China is not an immigration country, even after living in China for 25 years, you still can't get a Chinese green card. I had two friends, one is from Canada and one from S. Africa, they both stay in China for over 10 years and still got deported from China last year for illegal employment and they are forbidden to come back to China for next 10 years.

Why being called "foreigner" makes me feel very uncomfortable

And more importantly, she has lived in China for 25 years, a very long time, in this situation, it doesn't make much difference with or without a green card.

You won't be able to working without a working permit, which is hard to come by for foreigners in China. I have to admit that in recent years China is becoming increasingly not unfriendly to foreigners.
