If India has a Ministry for Women & Children, it is clearly a useless and non-functional Ministry. During my tour of Mumbai, I was horrified at the obvious marketing of young girls for prostitution. It seems to be legal there. As for children's rights, does that even exist in India? The masses of young kids begging on the streets is terrible. I say this with respect to Indians, if your central and local governments cannot make the socio-economic lives of its citizens better on a regular basis then that is an indication of your failure as a state. It would be better to have autonomous states within a federation or smaller allied states than to have one huge mess where the suffering and misery stands out so much in contrast to the splendour and wealth

Mind you, these Bangladeshi prostitutes are 99% times " Illegal migrants " , and this means they are not going to get any legal help here.

Being a Pakistani I am sorry for what I have read on this thread ....... I don't know what sort of a person would use such a tragedy to show their hatred over the internet. May be they don't know things back home are not any different to what's happening to Bangladeshi women.

I hope that both indian and bangladeshi governments can help reduce the suffering of these women. May no woman on this Earth has to go through all this .............. I can only hope.

This is sad reality, a decade ago most of the trafficked women were Nepali now they are Bangladeshi. In a different country they are totally at mercy of traffickers, as even if they approach police they will themselves get arrested because of being without papers.

First of all I personally apologize for the untoward remarks by some members here. Do U really think that celebrating human misery is worth a shot? Secondly I started reading your post hoping maturity is shown by someone here and expected that U would not join in the group here in tit for tat response. But seems it takes two hands to clap. This is how things go out of hand as war of words intensify to extent that causes irreparable damage. Mere condemnation of the behavior above would have placed U at higher echelon and at strong position here.

Eventually Bangladesh will do better economically. Signs of that are already visible. This is an economic issue. Nepal is another country from which many girls enter the trade in India.

I am not naive enough to believe that prostitution is one day going to disappear. It will not. But surely these girls need to have better lives, health, nutrition, security, and better working conditions.

I honestly believe that we need to legalize pornography as well as prostitution. And bring the entire industry above ground, with some form of government control to protect the women from exploitation
