Unknown assailants hurled a grenade at the Pakistani consulate in Herat, Afghanistan on Saturday evening, Afghan news channel Tolo News reported.

According to initial details, the grenade exploded in the compound of the consulate but there were no injuries or any damage to the consulate.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the incident, adding that Afghan authorities had been informed, and had been requested to investigate the incident.

In May 2014, a handful of heavily armed insurgents, including suicide bombers, had attacked the Indian consulate in Herat.

Herat police chief General Samihullah Qatra said four attackers, including suicide bombers, had entered houses close to the consulate before dawn and began shooting into the compound.

“There were three suicide bombers. Our security forces killed all of them. Only five of our forces were wounded.”

Pakistan needs to be careful against Indian sponsored terrorism in Afghanistan.

this line is funny...2 decades of terrorism,Pakistani backed terrorists made ruin of this country and after that, one and half decade of proxy war against NATO and USA,yet these lines come out from Pakistanis' mouth.funny indeed.Indian sponsored terrorism is a myth kiddo, its made after India's involvement in Afghanistan showed most Afghanis like Indian Activity and despise Pakistan.

what kind of Terrorism you're talking about??making of Schools??Building of Roads??providing foods??I wonder what kind of benefits Pakistan provided to Afghanistan through all these years apart from sending Jihadis to fight there..

Objectively analyzing, If Pakistan hadn't intervened in Afghanistan would Afghanistan remained the same ? Likewise, What you did in Srilanka in 80's and supported LTTE by turning blind eye towards their activities. A nation sometimes is compelled to do things to achieve a strategic balance and depth.

So don't take a moral high ground and prove you are better somehow because you always remain at the the receiving end of everything.

For rest of post which reeks of ignorance and stupidity. A little research on this forum and you could find 500- 1 Billion dollar invested by Pak in Afghanistan over the years.

And instead of foul mouthing here, do a little research will you ? Indian MI started there activities in Afghanistan in late 2001, got a foot hold so they can monitor "countries of interest" and what your TSD did is not hidden

Interestingly, Lt. General Shahid Aziz who was CGS in 2002, claimed in his book, ISI start sending reports in 2002 about RAW financing Baloch separatists

We were compelled to engage in proxy war, because were dragged in to it by your Intel agencies adn Afghan intel agencies. Former were funding Baloch separatists, later were funding TTP rogue elements.

Hence began the era of using Haqqani group. It was a reaction to all of your activities.

ISI at best...

Yeah yeah .... blame it on ISI , and what raw is doing in Afghanistan ... playing cheap tricks to start proxy war against Pakistan but no , to u raw is agency of saints , right ??

first,I'm replying to this part as this is directly linked with the thread's topic..

Indian MI worked since 2001,funded Baloch rebels--alright..but lets check the countries blamed for funding Baloch rebels.the list contains US,Few EU countries,Russia,Afghanistan,Iran,India,UAE and few others possibly.the blamed countries are heterogeneous in nature and generally, these countries never come together on any issue, which History has showed.but somehow, they're all funding BLA,providing trainings, weapons etc.yet,BLA remained a poorly equipped, poorly trained and yet to conduct any significant damage on Pakistan..aint that strange, especially when these countries are more than capable to conduct this kind of insurgencies and has a history of successful missions??I mean, are you guys so naive to distinct that Baloch rebels are fighting for 50 years now,and here,we're discussing Indian fund for Baloch rebels??you guys already know what India is capable of.if we funded TTP and Baloch rebels, the Pakistan would be in facing full blown civil war..

about Haqqani Group, your analysis is full wrong..TTP didn't come to existence before 2007,while,US and Nato are blaming Haqqani Network since they landed on AFghanistan.in fact,Haqqani was under Taliban's affiliation since 90s..so don't spread lies in this forum..accept what is truth..its a new game in thsi forum to blame Indian Agencies for TTP,while, significant amount of Pakistani members cheer for AF-Taliban and have been dreaming to capture Afghanistan again using Pakistan's proxy(read AF-Taliban) as 2014 is over now..so,there is no reaction which drove Pakistan's action, its simply blind ambition.its Afghanistan,Pakistan's strategic depth, where they could conduct any kind of dirty ops(Like 1999 Plane Hijack) and nobody would blame Pakistan directly.

now,I come to the first part..I've no problem with Russian-Mujahidin period, when Pakistan fought clandestine war along with CIA.I've problems with the later part, when ISI backed Al Qaeda(who didn't play any part in that war and some members here are poised to think that they were),fought against the government and captured Afghanistan and took it into middle age.we supported LTTE for small time, but we fought against them too..its a funny part that Pakistan watched,or enjoyed that period when Afghanistan suffered.in fact, they continued their proxy war against International Force.what could be a new beginning for Afghanistan, had become a full blown civil war.if we wanted,we could crush Sri Lanka too..but Proxy is good when it remains so.you are blaming TTP now,but TTP is living in the same buffer zone which Af-Talibans have created.

Your post shows lack of knowledge about certain ground realities. Let me correct them one by one.

1. Baloch separatist leaderships were hiding in Dubai in recent past. Directing their insurgency from there. Son of Sardar Mengal. Pakistan repeteadly asked them to hand over but they didn't pay heed to our requests and funds continue to trickle from there to Baloch insurgency. Hence our accusation Dubai supporting Baloch rebels

2. Another 2 separatist leaders one sitting in london other sitting in switzerland are guiding their groups in balochistan

BRP Central Secretary Dr Bashir Azeem told The Express Tribune his party chief had already made it clear that they would never accept any invitation from the government for dialogue on the Balachistan issue.

“I can tell you on behalf of Brahamdagh Bugti, Commander of the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) Dr Allah Nazar and (Dubai-based exile Baloch nationalist leader) Harbiyar Marri, that talking to the government is out of the question … President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf or any other official are not in a position to take any decision on the crisis,” said Azeem, who is also Brahamdagh’s spokesperson.

“Everybody knows who is calling the shots in Balochistan … Talks are possible but only on our agenda – independence. If the army is at all serious about having talks with us, it will have to recognise our agenda,” he added.

Speaking to the media earlier this week, Interior Minister Rehman Malik had suggested that a parliamentary committee should be formed to hold talks with Baloch leaders, including Brahamdagh and Harbiyar.

To political observers, however, the declaration seemed contradictory – BLF and BRP members, who are separatists, often forcibly hoist a Baloch flag and play a Baloch national anthem in far-flung areas of the province. Yet the interior minister had stated the government only wanted to hold a dialogue with those Baloch leaders who respected the national flag, anthem and Constitution of Pakistan.

In a startling revelation on Sunday, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Baloch Republican Party chief Brahamdagh Bugti operated training camps in Afghanistan which were dismantled after Islamabad conveyed its concerns about the matter to Afghanistan.

Bugti had allegedly established training camps in Kandahar from where he was fuelling the insurgency in Balochistan, Malik said. He allegedly trained around 4,000 to 5,000 men for action against the Frontier Corps in the restive province.

“Bugti hired three large houses for training. We have shared these details with Afghan officials,” he told reporters at the Islamabad Press Club.

The interior minister said Pakistan had requested the Afghan president to deport Bugti after which he was forced to leave the country. After Bugti’s departure from Kabul, the situation in Balochistan is under control, the minister claimed.

Taking notice of Islamabad’s concerns, the United Nations and Afghanistan had told the self-exiled Baloch leader to take political asylum anywhere in the world after which Brahamdagh moved to Switzerland.

indian MI TSD ran deep cover Ops in pakistan. When we accuse India funding TTP, It is because India is funding, training afghan Intelligence who in turns helps TTP. There are documented facts and figures which points to their collusion with TTP.

Now coming over to Haqqani group accusations, Can you kindly tell when Accusations began to fly Pakistan is turning blind to Haqqani activities ? IIRC it began in 2006 and onwards, when Baloch insurgency was on it's peak !

Before TTP there was a splinter group called Abdullah Mehsud group which started attacking pakistani forces in 2004. Read about his attacks on Pak army, it was quite audacious at that time Just don't look at TTP but the previous groups who grouped together to form TTP Interesting bit is Abdullah mehsud was released from Guantanamo bay and right away he came to pakistan and started attacking Pak Army.

first,India is not funding Khad.second, even if we're funding and training Khad, and Khad is providing help to TTP,that doesn't mean India is funding and training TTP.its just like saying USA provides aid to Pakistan and Pakistan trains Af-Taliban.that means,US is aiding Taliban to kill its own soldiers.twisted words does only satisfy fools.about DOCUMENTED FACTS,where is this documents now??did Pakistan lodged protest in front Indian/Afghan Ambassador on this issue??No.they leaked this so called "Information" in media to conduct a media trial for Pakistan's internal consumption..

about when,I don't have the time to find out all the accusations which USA/NATO filed against Haqqani Network.but they're with Al Qaeda since 90s and got ISI's active support even during 80s,along with CIA's.they actively supported Al Qaeda since Tora Bora.
