ABU DHABI: Fawad Alam and Najaf Shah are expected to make their international debut in the third and final match of Pakistanâs one-day series against Sri Lanka here today.
The Greenshirts have already clinched the series by winning the first two games comprehensively.
Captain Shoaib Malik announced after his teamâs 98-run triumph over Sri Lanka in the second ODI on Sunday at Abu Dhabiâs Sheikh Zayed Stadium that newcomers would get a chance to play in todayâs final game.
Shoaib, who has made his debut as Pakistan captain in the series, said that Pakistan would go all out for a 3-0 clean sweep, against the Sri Lankans. âWinning this series is a huge boost for the teamâs morale and it would be even better for us if we go on to win it 3-0,â said Shoaib.
Pakistan went into the series following a disastrous World Cup campaign while the Sri Lankans went to Abu Dhabi after playing the World Cup final in Barbados last month. Shoaib said his team played like a well-oiled unit which is he termed was the biggest reason behind Pakistanâs improved performance.
