Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko said recently, that fortification project on the Russian-Ukrainian border remains a priority for the Ukrainian government

The State Border Service of Ukraine has received the first UAH 10 million in funding for a massive fortification project nicknamed the "Great Wall of Ukraine" on the Russian-Ukrainian border in Kharkiv region, Oleh Slobodian, the assistant chairman of the Ukrainian State Border Service, said at a briefing on Friday.

"According to our estimates, the first tranche of UAH 10 million for engineering work on the border has already transferred to the administration of the State Border Service. This will allow the continuing of the implementation of the engineering plan after the completion of all legal and technological issues," Slobodian said.

"The project will involve only Ukrainian companies and producers, and therefore about 40% of the funds will return to the budget as taxes," Slobodian said.

on March 18 Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine had decided to allocate UAH 865 million from the reserve fund for the construction of the security measures on the border.

According to the State Border Service, the engineering works on the borders with Russia will start in Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv regions and part of Luhansk region.

OP as always keeps posting Kiev propaganda here.Great Wall  ...Laughing so hard right now.Where are the money for the previous "Great Wall" OP? Of course you do not know-money has been stolen from "our man" Yats&Co.The same fate will have the money(where they will come from btw-stealing pension funds and people private bank accounts maybe?) for the new "Great Wall" .Well I will not be surprise if something might be build up eventually...to keep Ukranians inside as USA cannon fodder.

I think Ukrainian Military will put sophisticated surveillance and radar systems along the border.

So? Which wall survives? The Great Wall of China didn't. Hadrian's Wall didn't. The Maginot Line didn't. The Berlin Wall didn't. I think, 10, 20 years down the road, the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia will realize they've been played against each other by the US, and they will tear down this wall. :yes2:

It is far less than a wall. Plus the border between Russia and Norway is far smaller than the thousands of miles of border between Russia and Ukraine which, by the way, Ukraine doesn't even control in the Donbas region.

Ukraine would have done the fencing by the 2008 only and should have putted security radars etc.

Assistant head of the State Border Service says Ukraine has lost control of borders in Donetsk and Luhansk regions

UNIAN: Ukraine has no control over about 409 kilometers of the state border in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Oleh Slobodian, the assistant chairman of the Ukrainian State Border Service, said on Ukrainian television's Channel 5 on Thursday.

"As for the section of the border that is temporarily not under the control of the Ukrainian authorities, it is 409.3 km in Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Slobodian said.

He also said that an Ukrainian interagency commission was working at the Russian "Donetsk" border checkpoint, and that it consisted of customs officers and employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine. According to Slobodian, the working conditions of this group are quite difficult.

At the same time, Slobodian said that the State Border Service of Ukraine had been given a clear task by the President of Ukraine to regain control of the state border by the end of the year.

"Of course, not everything depends on the State Border Service, because it is a question of a different level – an international one. But we're making every effort to achieve this," he added.

Ukraine to spend approx. $200 million on defensive facilities along border with Russia

The Ukrainian government has approved a plan of engineering equipment of the border with Russia in 2015-2018.

The government resolution No 439-r dated May 14 "On the Approval of the Plan of Engineering Equipment of the Ukrainian-Russian State Border and Territories Adjoining the Antiterrorism Operation Area and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea" was published on the government website on Thursday.

The three-year plan of the government envisages anti-vehicle and anti-tank ditches (4x2 meters in size), non-explosive engineering obstacles, fortifications to be built at tactical localities and positions, exclusion zones and belt roads.

It is also planned to procure and install 17-meter-tall metal observation towers, video surveillance systems, communication towers, combat remote control modules and surveillance posts.

The budget will allot over UAH 4 billion for the works.

'Great Wall of Ukraine' fortification along Russian border set for completion before late 2018: PM

Construction of the almost 2,000km fence began following the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine in early 2014

A massive fortification project dubbed the Great Wall of Ukraine' will be completed before the end of 2018 Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk made that promise during an inspection of the part of the fence that's planned to stretch the almost 2,000 kilometer land border with Russia. He said the government had found ways to build the construction at a cost five times cheaper than the millions of dollars originally estimated.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukrainian Prime Minister: "Basically, these are the Ukrainian enterprises, which do the construction work and make all the equipment, which is going to be used at the state border. This project has two goals. First one is security and defense from Russian saboteurs and the second one is to support our economy, to create new jobs and to develop our science research. Look, what kind of projects were fulfilled by Ukrainian firms".

The checkpoint near here has the popular name interpreted as ‘three sisters' – reflecting the once brotherly nations of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.

Ukrainian officials say the wall will enhance national security, improve the business climate and bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership and EU integration. Meanwhile, Yatsenyuk has previously claimed the fortifications would serve as Europe's de facto eastern boundary, while also helping Ukraine reassure its European partners that it is in full control of its borders.

"Our man " Yats has said recently - "Great Wall of Ukraine" will be engine for Ukrainian economy growth
Such a delusion!

Everybody in the Junta government fell into something like a collective schizophrenia. They are completely dropped out of the reality. GDP fell by 17.6% in four months, and they are talking about some crazy ideas.
Prices rose by 100%(for goods of Ukrainian production) - 300% (for imported goods), and they are building some crap, which can be useful only for the protection of Russia from million refugees from Mandana Juntaland.
