Which exports? we imports more than we exports. Raw material we import, if prices go to high exporter wouldnt able to have enough profit.

That is wishful thing of every pakistani that we should produce locally.
We already invested all the money on roads, metro chamkeelay project without having any revenue.

These are speculations until official but generating revenue from IT exports, petrol, GST, automotives is the easiest way for governments to literally do nothing and still get a lot in return. But khair when there's a will there's a way. No way I would let this or even IK government take my earnings my literally providing nothing in return. 20% Upwork and Fiverr lete hai because they connect buyer and seller or government?

same brother as a fellow freelancer this is very bad they should rather encourage growth in I.T but alas, this import goverment is anti growth and want to put pakistan on long life support machine.

why do these mna / mpa need govt issued land cruisers and prados? why can't they live on a cultus or maximum 1.3 car? all of these people are the one's who have six or seven digit monthly income and yet they are being paid to come (and often don't come) to govt institutions and do nothing

Yes, taxing exports on a growth sector is a double edge sword. But so is increasing taxes on real estate as that could upset the inflow of remittances. The former is more predictable than the latter. Either way, the state has to raise revenue to meet the immediate goal of the reviving the IMF program. I'm guessing that this tax will likely be for a short duration.

The government has access to more data and therefore is in a better place to decide which sector to tax. Ordinary citizens should trust that the government has the best interest of state in perspective as these decisions are made.
