IslamabadThe National Assembly was informed on Monday that the government is planning to accelerate the exploration of natural gas in different parts of the country and the related areas will be provided special incentive to overcome the gas shortage in the country.
Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan told the House during question hour that a policy is under consideration to provide gas to the gas producing areas. He said that in the natural gas projects jobs will be provided to the qualified and skilled human resources of the areas.
The Minister of State said that thirty-six exploration licenses were issued to various petroleum companies for exploration of oil and gas in the country during the last five years. He said that the exploration licenses were awarded through open competitive biding process on the basis of best work programme.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad on behalf of the Minister for Communication informed the House that work is underway on the Faisalabad-Multan Motorway M-4 project and will be completed by the end of next year. He said fifty-eight percent work has been completed on fifty-eight kilometer Faisalabad-Gojra section while twenty percent work has been completed on the fifty-seven kilometer Khanewal-Multan section.
To a question Shaikh Aftab Ahmad said work on Khushalgarh bridge is underway and seventy-eight percent progress has been achieved. He said the project will be completed by the end of February next year.
To another question Minister of State informed the House that forty percent work has been completed on the Lowari Tunnel Project and 1570 meter has been widened.
