HYDERABAD : Giving impetus to aerospace and defence manufacturing, the government of Telangana will set up two new aerospace parks, one at Ibrahimpatnam near Hyderabad and another at Warangal.
The aerospace park at Ibrahimpatnam will come up in 1,000 acres and that at Warangal in 500 acres.
At present, the state has one aerospace and defence special economic zone at Adibatla in Hyderabad where leading aviation players like Sikorsky and Pratt & Whitney have set up units. According to K Pradeep Chandra, special chief secretary (industries), the government is in dialogue with multiple aerospace players including the Mahindra group. “We have asked them (Mahindras) to consider setting up an aerospace facility in the state,” he said.
Speaking to mediapersons during the curtain raiser on Defence & Aerosupply-2014, he said the state was targeting to garner at least 20 per cent of India’s $20 billion aerospace and allied services market which is expected to touch $60 billion in the next 10 years.
Chandra said the government would unveil a new industrial policy soon with focus on 12 core sectors including aerospace and defence. It will have sector-specific incentives apart from the regular sops.
