Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry announced on Saturday that the ministry has launched its very own mineral water to cut costs at government offices.

The Pakistan Council of Research and Water Resources (PCRWR) has prepared a 500ml water bottle named “Safe Drinking Water”, the minister said in a statement.

The mineral water bottles will first be used at PM office, President House and Parliament House, he said, adding that the water costs Re1 per litre.

In the first phase, Chaudhry said, it will be introduced at government offices after which it will be made available to the general public.

He said the PCRWR has collected water samples from around the country for the survey, adding that the ratio of salts in the water was examined in the survey.

According to the ratio of salts in water samples collected from all tehsils, water plants would be established in these areas with the help of private companies.

. . . . .
Always against these plastic bottles that can be seen infront of every participant in any cabinet/parliamentary meeting. The plastic in these bottles is no different than the plastic used in shopping bags and hence it is essentially non-biodegradable.... If they wanted to make their own water should have had it in cardboard boxes like Fruito etc....

That's what we really Fawad Chaudhry sir,

WASTE MGMT TURKEY, you can make here more profit!

. . .
Not a fan of plastic bottles and bags in Pakistan with little to no waste management.

If this is commercialized and water quality is guarded, private water providers will be ousted of business. This can be a public initiative which earns money and spends back on the water.

hence it is essentially non-biodegradable

You need to do more research on the plastics then.
Not all plastic bottles are non-biodegradeable...

They extract water for free and sell it for half a dollar per 500ml and most of it is not even drinkable.
Our people can definitely do better without em...

Govt. may start business in every field, but that's not their prime task.

Why are paying salaries and protocols of politicians, if they can't regulate simple water market!

.
Today they make a company with good intentions. Tomorrow it gets all political and makes losses and is a drain on the economy.
