LONDON: MQM Chief Altaf Hussain said on Tuesday that the current government along with the US was conspiring against the Army, ISI and other institutions responsible for national security, Geo News reported.

The MQM chief was addressing the joint meeting of the Rabitta Committee in London and Karachi.

Speaking about national security, self-esteem, conspiracies against institutions responsible for national security, mounting US pressure on Pakistan and reprehensible conspiratorial attitude of the government, the MQM chief said that the present government was contriving against political opponents and the MQM.

He said that despite the fact that the MQM stood by the government in its difficult times and proved to be its most trusted ally, the manner in which the government had betrayed the MQM was known to the people of Pakistan and the international community.

The MQM Chief  added that it was, therefore, the responsibility of the intellectuals, analysts, and anchor persons to inform the people about the conspiracies against the armed forces and institutions responsible for national security. He said that the nation should prove with their unity that they were with the armed forces and the national security institutions.

Excellant even altafbhai is agreeing that our ISI and army are being unfairly targeted. We all make mistakes so if in the past he has been wrong so what. His support is welcome. All sections of pakistanis support army/isi. Shows what we pakistanis think of american indian israeli propaganda. We Love ISI and army and the fact that our enemies hate them tells us they must be doing something right. Zardari, gillani etc should be tried for treason and dealt with appropriatly.

Hardly anybody, outside of the slums of Karachi, takes this clown seriously. Zardari has screwed the Bhai royally and all he can do is foaming at the mouth. Zardari does nothing that can anger the generals, they are actually quite happy with the sub-ordinate role the elected government is playing in the matters that the GHQ wants to keep under its control. Therefore, Bhai's latest diatribe won't work.

At a time like this when our army and isi are being constantly abused by our enemies we should stand firm with our armed forces. Yea MQM are tossers at times I agree but you think ppp and pnl who both raped pakistan when they get chance are any better. Sadly we dont have any politicians that have any following that are sincere to pakistan.

I hope your comment is tongue in cheek. But what we have is not really democracy. PPP and PNA etc are not democratic parties wwhen did a bhutto or sharif eever have to stand for genuine free elections in their parties. The west insist on dealing with democracies because they know we throw up weak leaders in this manner.

There is no doubt that after OBL Raid US is trying its best to malign our Armed Forces so that Armed Forces loose their leverage at home and toe to US Line - All Pakistanis must support Armed Forces wrt to external matters regardless of their opinion of Armed Forces domestically.

Altaf is not supporting the Army per se. He is targeting Zardari now that MQM has left the power sharing after about three years.

But he is essentially correct: At least the US is trying to drive a wedge between PPP and the Army. In carefully directed and repeated attacks the Army and the ISI are singled out while the 'democratic' PPP govt. is spared because it is 'powerless in face of the Army'. While it is true that the actual power DOES rest with the Army--PPP could not even bring ISI to civilian control--Zardari has no problem with the Army and is quite content to let them call the shots.
