Government Privatizes PIMS Hospital Islamabad.


The federal government announced the privatization of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, Islamabad on Monday in accordance with the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Ordinance.

Following the enforcement of the ordinance, the patients visiting the hospital for check-ups and tests will be charged fees equivalent to those of other private hospitals.

Yeah, good ridance, one of my close family members was a doctor at PIMS, there are around 400 ghost gardeners registered which are paid on national exchequer, staright into the pocket of the guy in charge, this is just the tip of the ice berg, i know a million other things they do hence, privatisation is the way to go.

MTI isnt privatization but devolution of power

the biggest problem hospitals in Pakistan have is that if they ask for something it has to go through 20 chain of commands before approval

MTI changes that and simple board can procure anything quickly..they can also generate funds by charging on few things.

its smart and people can be held accountable, just like in kTH oxygen saga, now you can hold the board members accountable

what needs to be done is process stream lined, hospital should charge people not give 100% free provision, if you dont do nominal charge people will come to the hospital for no reason, as i doctor i see people just coming to hospital for sake of good evening rest..

the poor needy patient should be provided help through social worker/bait ul mal in every hospital while the middle class and rich should foot part of the bill

otherwise you will have what you have now, a dysfunctional hospital system ..if someone thinks that in 2016 hospitals were great well he is living in fools paradise
