Google increases search share at Bing's expense
Google's share of the U.S. search market is so large that it seems nearly impossible for any competitor to ever surpass the search giant. Of course, it certainly doesn't help the competition when the search giant actually increases its gargantuan share, which it did last month.
Google held 67.3 percent of U.S. searches in December, an increase of nearly two full percentage points from its November mark of 65.4 percent, according to Nielsen Online data.
Even worse news for Google's main competitors -- Yahoo and Bing -- was that their respective shares fell by nearly a full percentage point each, Mashable reports. Yahoo held 14.4 percent of the market in December, while Bing dropped to 9.9 percent, ending a months-long streak of growth for Microsoft's still young search product.
