I have gone through the entire lot of YouTube videos on these subjects, as part of my paper on the Politics of Knowledge.

What you had yesterday, and what you have suggested just now, are opinion pieces. Shefali Vaidya's was solid research. There is a difference between the two, one of which is worthy of respect and the other of contempt for propaganda. I leave it to your fertile imagination to decide which is which.

Save yourself the effort, and concentrate on preparing responses that do not hide behind a blank wall of silence.

There we are known as 'half-Brahmins', having lost caste due to our accessibility by all classes of society (traditionally, a 'kabiraj' would house up to 20 to 30 patients near his own dwelling, in order to enable extended treatment; the priests did not like this and the impurity that they imputed it brought).

His point is perfectly valid: for Goa and for Ms. Vaidya, but it is not valid for her narrative. I imagine that neither of you know about the Goan brahmone (pronounced exactly like that, as a Bengali, or any Saraswat Brahmin, would).

There we are known as 'half-Brahmins', having lost caste due to our accessibility by all classes of society (traditionally, a 'kabiraj' would house up to 20 to 30 patients near his own dwelling, in order to enable extended treatment; the priests did not like this and the impurity that they imputed it brought).

Gaud Saraswat brahmins inhabit konkan coast. They eat sea food. Sachin Tendulkar, Vijay Mallya, deepika padukone are some of the famous GSBs. I am a marathi and I am well acquainted with the caste system in here.

GSBs like Konkanstha or Chitpavan Brahmin are fake Brahmins. By fake I mean these castes were Brahminized later.

Deshasta Brahmin of Maharashtra used to consider them as inferior.

Now it does not matter as they are as Brahmanvadi as the deshasthas. And they inter marry.

Vijay Mallya was four years or five years my junior at La Martiniere, but our family connections go back two generations before, to Col. Mallya of the IMS. Prakash Padukone lived in Malleswaram, and it used to be a pleasure to watch him working out at Canara Union.

Your statement that Gowd Saraswats are fake is your personal opinion, and one I deplore. It is entirely up to the Deshasth what they believe or do not believe about the Gowd Saraswats; there is enough evidence that they were a solid part of that caste and had been from time immemorial. The reason for the prejudice may be sought in the fish-eating habits of the Konks.

I am very disturbed by the fact that your genuine points about the influence of Brahminism are overlaid by an enormous degree of personal malice against that community. I, too, am against the influence of the regressive elements of that caste - the Rajiv Malhotras, the Vivek Agnihotris, the Subrahmaniam Swamys, the Nithyanand Mishras - but will not accept the personal rancour that you bring to bear on all Brahmins.

The whole revisionist drive is led by engineers and technicians who have little or no exposure to the social sciences, but being, without a single exception, Brahmins, feel entitled to claim knowledge of all work in Sanskrit as peculiarly their own.

Look at your own description of Vedam - Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, and, flash of blinding light, the Scientific Validation of Indian History. Then look at the profiles of Rajiv Malhotra, or of any of the savants that your type usually trots out. They are identical.

Chitpavan/Konkanstha brahmins are different from GSBs. Chitpavans don't eat sea food. GSBs do. They are called baaman in Konkan and Bamone in Goa. In Goa there are Bamone catholic goans too.


Balaji Vishwanath the Chitpavan guy who became the advisor to marathas just came out of nowhere and started claiming to be a brahmin. I bet he couldn't even prove his brahmin ancestory if he was asked to do. These Chitpavans are migrants from Central Asia who landed on konkan coast. Don't believe me hear it from a chitpavan brahmin himself.

These Chitpavans were treated very badly by the deshastas who wouldn't even drink water offered by them. After becoming peshwas, these 3rd grade brahmins earned respect of deshatas and become worst casteists themselves. They re introduced untouchablity in maratha empire.

As to why I hate them. The reasons are. The instances of discrimination I faced at their hands are many. Brahmins in Pune refused to rent me their flats because they wanted a brahmin. Few are decent. But the majority aren't.

They need to pay for their sins.
