General thread about these guys. Btw if someone could please tell me where Ghazi Malik was born that would be great, thanks (I'd assume somewhere in the Punjab since his mother was a Punjabi Jatt, but I'm not sure).

AFAIK, there is no record about his birthplace that I have read. It is just mentioned that he was Turco-Indian, that is, his mother was Indian.

Firishta (historian) seems to suggest the original Tughluq married a Jatt woman from Punjab.

"Firishtah who enquired from the scholars of Lahore about the origin and descent of Tughluq Shah. He was told that the general view held was that Ghiyath-al- Din's father, Malik Tughluq, was one of the Turki slaves of Balban and that his mother was a woman of a local Jat origin"

Barani's History of the Tughluqs: (being a Critical Study of the Relevant Chapters of Tārīkh i Fīrūz-Shāhī)

This links in with the wider family traditions. Firuz Shah Tuqhluq's mother for example was a princess of Dipalpur.

"a Bhati Rajput princess, Naila (the daughter of Rana Mal of Dipalpur) , had been married to Salar Rajab. She later became the mother of Firuz Shah the Tughluq Sultan of Delhi"

Yeah she was a Jatt who came from Dipalpur, modern day Pakistani Punjab.
