The German minister of defence Ursular von der Leyen has handed here budget plan till 2023 to the Geheimschutzstelle des Bundestages (Security Office of the Bundestag), till 2023 the military budget increase to 60billion €... 2019 increase to 44 billion €
If this report is true the German Army would recive nearly the double of money compared to 2012-2015.

Incorrect your statement. Germany past alway plays a role in its ambitious plans for its defence. Oppostion within Germany plays a big role in this. Which we all understand. Other NATO contributers like America / Britain / and France are different due too there global interventionists policies waging war everywhere. Require larger budgets.

2% is no must... only a voluntary goal set... there is no NATO rulebook demanding 2% like Trump always want the world to belive

would be great to see the defence capability of the Bw brought back near cold war strenght... not that we need 3000+ tanks... but 1000 modern tanks and a fair number of modern Puma IFV with increased Artillery cabaility would be great...
Germany should completely scrap the "out of area" capability... we are no global player and we should not be able to support the USA UK in every stupid adventure they start...
But a strong alliance defence force for central europe including Poland Czech and the Baltic states would be great...

To piss of Trump I hope they dont buy US weapons ... only made in Europe please...

Mainly because of Russia.

After the end of the cold war Germany cut the defence budget so strong that many experts including high ranking generals claimed the armed forces are in such a bad shape that you better get rid of the Army completely ... or u need to spend more money on it that it could do the duty that the statelaw want from the Army.
Spending money on military was never welcome from german voter and tax payer... during the cold war the people knowed the need of a strong Army to protect us from communism...
After the cold war every german government safed money and cut the defence budget down, making completely stupid dessicions like stripping the Army from gun air defence and large scale gun and rocket Artillery...
After russians action in east Ukraina and Crimea the politic and people realize that Germany went a wrong way with "out of area" capability and getting rid of all the heavy ground defence equipment and the "private managment" of the Army... to many money gets lost with nothing in return and a weak defence force.

The order of 104 Leopard2 A7V was the first act to correct this and turn the Bw back into a stronger defence Army that needs no "out of area" capability to fight in Afghanistan or Mali or elsewere.

We just want a strong Army that keeps everyone thinking twice if he wana shit on our doorstep...

Many voter today see the need of a stronger defence and make it easyer for the politic to correct the budget mistakes of the last decade... means increasing the number of soldiers, heavy equipment, high tech equipment, decreasing the number of international adventures.

I would agree with you on this Germany needs strong army. Almost all the weapons we use today originated in Germany and letting go of that vital knowledge was wrong on German govt.

They never let the knowlege leaving... neither in weapon technology or soldier training or tactics... what they did was reducing the numbers so badly that the Army cant do the job it is suppost to do...
One big big problem of the Army today is...we have a high military budget of 40billion Euro... but we still have the big water head of administraion of civil worker that cost a furtune... 2/3 of the military budget of Germany is spend on loans... and that for the small ammount of soldiers... because the civil administration was never reduced in a way as the fighting force after cold war...to many well payed administrators with little work and big benefits eat up the budget.... thats a thing that should be corrected first...
