NEW DELHI: A top Daimlerexecutive based in Beijing was fired after he got into a flaming row over a parking spot, during which he allegedly said "All you Chinese are bastards" and then proceeded to use a pepper spray on innocent bystanders who tried to calm him down, the state-run People's Daily reported today.

"The truck and bus company released a statement saying that the company had decided to part ways with Rainer Gartner, president and CEO at Daimler Trucks & Buses China Ltd., following the incident," the daily wrote about the executive.

Gartner is the second German in a month to make offensive comments about Chinese, shanghaiist.com said. In late October, Germany's EU commissioner Gunther Oettinger reportedly referred to Chinese people as "slit-eyes" and "sly dogs" in a speech to business leaders in Hamburg, The New York Times reported.

As for Gartner, he allegedly "stole" a parking spot from a Chinese man who was reversing into the spot. A row ensued, during which he allegedly said: "I am in China one year already. The first thing I learned here is: All you Chinese are bastards."

When passers-by tried to calm the situation, Gartner allegedly pepper-sprayed them.

The incident went viral on social media sparking anger among Chinese netizens with some even threatening to boycott Mercedes that automaker Daimler AG owns.

"Expats should behave themselves and never put on airs even if they are rich or superior," said a microblogger on China's twitter-like Sina Weibo, reported china.org.

And today morning @beijingwalker was happy that he is among whites. He even posted a video of white women roaming beijing streets.

Communist China will have you believe only Turks are racist to the Chinese.
I wonder if my friend @TaiShang will want the Chinese to stop visiting Germany now?

Daimler China Sacks German Executive over Alleged Racist Remarks on Chinese People
(People's Daily Online) 05:05, November 22, 2016

Daimler China has fired an executive following his alleged insulting remarks on China during an altercation over a car parking space in Beijing. The case has drawn huge attention on social media and has provoked anger among Chinese.

The truck and bus company released a statement saying that the company had decided to part ways with Rainer Gartner, president and CEO at Daimler Trucks & Buses China Ltd., following the incident. The statement said that the manner in which Gartner had conducted himself during the dispute was “detrimental to the standing of our company, unbecoming of a manager of our brand and prejudicial to our good name.”

“Such an incident reflects in no way the values of Daimler AG, and we sincerely apologize for the concerns raised by this matter,” the statement added.

No offense taken -- those words simply reflect the personal qualities of the said species beings.

I do not believe Turks are racist toward China. If it is the case, the only thing we should do is to stop travelling your country. Problem solved. Not that your alleged racism would impact our lives in any way.

You have mistaken our geopolitical debate for something else. For some ghastly reason, you are looking at even grand geopolitics from the narrow glass of ethnicity.

This won't carry you too long. Grey Wolfs in Turkey used to be secular Kemalists with a broader horizon. I guess getting cozy with the present government also distorts your own ideals.

My criticism is never directed against individual persons although their action will also determine external perceptions. My level of analysis involves the states, not individuals (except individuals that represent the state.).

Ok buddy. but a lot of Chinese will still travel to Turkiye.
We are not racists. Glad you agree.:)

This the first time i hear that Grey wolves have been described as "Secular Kemalists".

Grey wolves are ultra-nationalists and pretty much conservatives.

As far as I understand, the nationalists (those who believe in Turan ideology) are sort of puritans, meaning that they trace their linage to the very basis of their cultural roots.

Central Asian Turkic culture is inherently secular. I know you have patches of it in the heartland of your country not touched by cosmopolitanism and cultural-ethnic mixture. Those people are egalitarian, puritanist and also have a high regard toward women as a principle public actor. Hence, they are probably closer to Kemalist revolutionary ideology than any other group.

I guess the danger lies in the fact that that very culture is being threatened by a very sectarian, anti-woman and anti-secular deep-Gulf ideology.

Turkey going back to its Central Asian historical roots would be a welcome development for the region. But, Turkey taking foreign ideas and ideologies (including orthodox religions) would be unwelcome form a strategic point of view.

Central Asian Turkic culture have been abandoned in several centuries. It was a nomadic & shamanistic culture. You can still find feint traces of it but that's it.

Hımm....heartland of the country is central Anatolia...and that's where the most conservative people lives (Konya, Yozgat, Çorum, etc...)

The people you describe are in the Aegean cost. But Aegean cost is the Castle of CHP. What you are describing is CHP supporters.

MHP is nothing like that.

Turkey is a secular state. Religion has zero influence on the constitution.

Also, state is responsible for raising, certificating and appointing Imams to mosques. No self-appointed imam can work in a mosque without a state approval. Hence for decades Turkish people stood adamant against infiltration of Salafism and it's derivatives.

In this regard, Europe is much more vulnerable as they don't have system like ours, it's easy for terrorists to radicalize Muslims there.

On a small note....i think, your country suffers from the very same reason. ETIM and all that jihadist nutjobs, can recruit, because there is no real control of the Imams.

China should work in this issue with Turkey.

History is history....there is no way or will to complete change the Turkish culture which has been formed over a millennia.

steps are taken here as well to put an end to this wahabi infiltration. Your system to certificate an Imam is good and should be applied here as well. I believe false tolerance is the main reason for this islamist threat and in the long run leads to the bad image islam has here.

I dunno if you are doing it correctly or not.... like France closing tens of mosques. The buildings itselves do not pose a threat but the one who preaches inside. When you close a mosque it's community would seek an alternative and it would be even easier radicalize them.

I think, you need tight regulations on Imams. Also, no tolerance for any religious establishment (madrasa, tekke, zaviye, etc...) that is not supported by the state. That's the case in Turkey.

Many of my friends whom lives in Europe says that they had been approached (when they have visited a non-Turkish mosque) by these bearded, jihadist looking guys whom tried to lecture my friends about the "wrongs of the Islam which Turks follow".

For decades a wrong tolerance was created that led to this situation we have now. We will see how this turns out now, since far right gains more and more votes.

I'm not quiet sure about what you are implying with saying "wrong tolerance" but oppression on average Muslim would just play into the hands of ISIS.
