Automated artillary? Interesting

No sir, it could be a system like CALP

CALP fire control system allows for automated fire control at artillery piece level by:

Improving firing accuracy and thus, firing effectiveness

Increasing positioning and fire order execution speed

Managing firing safety.

CALP can easily be integrated onto any type of self-propelled or towed piece of ordnance such as 122 mm large calibre gun or 120 mm heavy mortar, as well as multiple rocket-launcher systems (MRL).

The selection by the French Army for the renovation of its 155 mm AUF1 and 155 mm TR F1 howitzers and GIAT Industrie's selection for the fire control of the 155 mm/52 CAESAR truck-mounted howitzer underline the French Naval & Ground System's competence in this field.

Characteristics

It comprises 3 sub-assemblies:

Commander station: tactical computer CS2002

Gun loader panel

Gun layer panel.

It is connected to the following terminals:

Muzzle velocity radar

Navigation and alignment unit

Tactical communications radio units

Orders to vehicle driver

Various turret sensors.

Performances

CALP is an innovative concept based on a digitised map display of the terrain and “PMM” ballistics algorithms designed to the latest NATO standards (NABK).
