Future of Afghanistan?

I think we have to eliminate the perspective in the word "terrorist". The US invaded the nation and killed many. I doubt the Afghani will improve after US leaves. Afghanistan is bombed back to stone ages and has CIA puppets as leaders. The real Afghani (not Al Qaida nor warlords) have gained nothing but pain. After being terrorized by communist from good old Russia they have now capitalism pushing them into hell. I do not call that kismet but bad luck. I do not think they should be punished even more with the title of "terrorists".

Just remember the many civilians killed in the last few weeks. Even groups of children searching for wood. We had quite a few wedding parties being finished with bombs. If you are a relative of those victims, would you still see it as improvement?

On the issue of Afghanistan i really dont think there is a way of solving the solution, once the US leaves it is true that it might go back to its roots the taliban, because no one like someone to invade their country. Though i'm a hundred percent sure that ethnic clashes will start again.

Really there is no solution, and we should leave it in gods hand, and hopefully there should be prosperity.

Now on the issue of Americans and how they are good for business, many countries should thank America, like
- Japan (America is the one that made it this strong economically)
-China (without America the different parts of China would be separate provinces, and America was the one that pursued for it to become a free enterprise, and have CHina Open for everyone)
Philliphines- They helped them gain independence from Spain........THE LIST GOES ON AND ON

Though I agree and disagree with you on the British being all about business in many of their colonies. They didn't do much to their African countries sans S. Africa. But that may have been through many factors.. Yes, they were all about business for raw resources and thats how they ruined the world.
Ever since the British Empire fell the world has had MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of people die every major war or controversy is due to the british EMpire
- Palestine
- Kashmir
- Rwanda
- Ireland (IRA land dispute)
- Iran (animosity towards them, BP oil)
-Argentina- border dispute

As percentage of GDP, afgan war effort is quite low, hence not that big a burden on US economy. The issue is more to do with war fatigue in minds of US voters. The issue of global financial crisis remains, but afgan war has minimal effect on US economy.

While I not a fan of the manner in which the US has chosen to make an impression on the Afghan, I must tell you that to simply leave is not the most responsible thing to do, it's also dangerous, not just for Afghanistan but the region -- But allow me to make a basic sort of statement, US policy is not acceptable to those who are directly effected by this policy and that Al-Qaida has no monopoly on fanaticism, certain US institutions and key policy makers and administrators, while opposites, fit this characterization.

I think I follow your anti-colonial world view, and I would encourage you to research the behavior of the English in their colonies and the effect of ideas in England and these colonies, I think you may form a much richer, more complex view.

Well the amount of money govt used to bailout companies is equal to most of wars america fought. Afgan war has not affected you, but economic slowdown has.
You did not feel Iraq war affecting you, before the slowdown. Did you?

If the US withdraws too soon, then we see even more civil war, strife and destruction.
This will have a direct effect on us and our people.
However the right thing would be to convince the US that they also need to focus on the development of Afghanistan. Its people have only seen wars for decades. Time for a change. Let them breathe air without gunpowder in it.

Side Note: America may have helped Phillippines, but it was done with thier own interests at heart. They weren't exactly buddies with the UK back then. The US has no hand in China's growth, it was the Chinese leadership that moved towards a capitalist market system.

Side Note 2: The US economy is badly hurt. Spending $500 billion may not be feasible for long. Reports suggest that they are nearing their debt ceiling; a limit beyond which the Fed simply cannot print anymore dollars. Since this is how the US economy worked, by printing paper, they are now going to have to make cuts. Defense spending may not see big cuts, but important development projects will be put on hold and taxes will have to increased.

Pakistan trying to control the south, Iran trying to control the north, china setting up pockets of control in the areas they wish to mine and India trying to influence the situation. More fighting no progress and generally a no win for the Afghan people while politicians squable.
I hope not, i hope there some how is a bright future but i gave up being an optimist some time ago.

If listing facts and verifiable sources presents, as you say, a “one sided view,” dear readers is not the Taliban welcome to do the same so that we have a two sided view? Without misleading propaganda what can the Taliban list besides those they kidnap, intimidate and indiscriminately kill and what they destroy?

Isn’t the transition of security responsibilities to Afghan government a strong proof of our efforts in leading the nation towards democracy? Are not, dear readers, US and NATO forces, as revealed by verifiable evidence, creating changes, opportunities and the infrastructure for the people of Afghanistan to build upon?
