Full Throttle & Flares

. . . . .
.
Good for show but in real combat, 5th gen WVRs will be able to differentiate between flares and aircraft. In a real fight, what will matter most is ability to stay on enemy's six, or quickly losing him on your own six. Once he is close, trying to gain distance through afterburners would be suicidal.

In real and modern fight its almost impossible to get at anyone's tail..this only happens in movies...in real life most encounters are from nose to nose...no pilot or airforce is stupid to let anyone get behind u when u have support from awacs and ground controller (who is participating and managing the fight more than the pilot who is in the air.)

And flares are not used to decieve the other aircraft's radar..those are CHAFFS...flares are used to dodge the missiles.

From 2009 Red Flag, by USAF person: going into the merge, the SU-30 is jamming you but as soon as you merge, he's got a sustained turn rate of 23 degrees. I posted the links just minutes ago on another thread. As EW keeps evolving, nose to nose will remain a far off possibility, except if there is a vast generational difference between the combatants.

As u mentioned WVR...aircrafts are moving towards each other and not away so its always nose to nose(not considering the BFMs or interception startegies here)

I think creative pilots will save their best WVRAAMs for the a$$ spanking :D

There is of course much more details. After burners for gaining potential energy, then turn off, reduce speed to bank hard, making the missile on your tail lose energy, that would be a good strategy, if the aircraft's engine and aerodynamics allow it. But I pity the pilot who has to do it. I like it nice and safe here in Australia :D

As i said not considering the BFMs here and all these strategies are applied during a fight which is only possible after first encounter which is going to be nose to nose:D...a missile can get behind ur tail only in two ways:
1)u are a coward and RTB just before encounter.
2)u are stupid enough to let the opponent get behind u which still IF HAPPENS is going to be after a nose to nose encounter.
This is a long discussion so lets just end it here..:-)

Haha, don't give away any PAF strategies. I concur. Let's end it here.
