The T-14 Armata tank boasts some of the strongest armor protection of any tank ever made, giving it the ability to withstand direct frontal hits by 120 mm tank-fired shells, 100-150 mm antitank missiles and grenade launchers, said the expert working at the Institute of Steel and Alloys in Moscow.

The New Russian-made T-14 Armata at military parade on Red Square for the Victory Day, May 9, 2015.

With the introduction of explosive reactive armor (ERA), which is basically a slab of explosive that propels a steel plate towards a penetrating warhead, thereby damaging it and preventing complete penetration of a vehicle’s fighting compartment, the armor could even defeat 120 mm depleted uranium rounds like the American M829 and anti-tank missiles, a prominent expert in steel alloys said Saturday, June 6, 2015.

Featuring a number of innovative characteristics, the T-14 represents a new generation of Russian main battle tanks. The most significant new feature is the use of an unmanned turret, with the crew of three seated in an armored capsule in the front of the hull.

The main armament of the T-14 is a 125 mm smoothbore cannon, a new design compared to the one used on previous Russian and Soviet tanks. This could eventually be replaced by a bigger, 152 mm, cannon.

Second armament of the T-14 Armata includes one remote weapon station mounted on the top rear of the turret armed with one 7.62mm mm machine gun.

The T-14 Armata is equipped with the Active Protection System (APS) Afghanit which seems similar to the Israeli Trophy able to intercept and destroy incoming missiles and rockets. The system is designed to work against all types of anti-tank missiles and rockets, including handheld weapons such as rocket propelled grenades.

Didn't you post this a 2 months back. Btw nice profile pic.

I really doubt it. unless Russia wants to test it's Aramata against M829A3 in a neutral place and if it defeats it not once or twice, but three times in a row I'll eat crow.

T-14 is still a lightweight compared to Challenger 2,Leopard 2, and M1A2sep Abrams. if the APS and ERA are neutralized then it's going to be penetrated easily.

this is no super tank.

I want to see a video of it defeating Kornet,Konkurs,Springer,RPG-29, and the latest APFSDS

G'day mate

I guess the Russian tank can probably defeat the A1 or A2 version, which actually been done by the British and rumour has it is that the relikt exposive armour on M90S can deflect a DU A2 variant. But I think it would be a bit bleak that the relikt can defeat an A3.

Also, the latest version M829E4 is being developed as we speak, not much known to this round yet but from the material I can find, it looks like the M829E4 is a smart round.
