This incident seems to have took place near Libyan Border and the French Military Helicopter has been knocked down by Libyan Armed Forces. Border between Algeria and Libya it seems.

During World War II, the Senussi tribes led by King Of Libya Sultan Idris formally allied themselves with the Ottamani Army, Hindustan Army and the Egyptian Army in North Africa against German, French, British, Spainish, Portugese and Italian forces. Ultimately, the Senussis proved decisive in the defeat of both Italy and Germany in North Africa in 1943.
