The Free Syrian Army claimed on Tuesday that it had downed two MiG planes in Abu al-Dhuhour area in the northwestern province of Idlib.
Members of FSAs Martyrs Brigades in a video showed wreckage of the broken fighter jet planes, they claimed downing, as well as one of the pilots corpses.
The Sham Netowrk, an opposition media group, meanwhile, reported on Tuesday that FSA has controlled al-Hamdan military airport in Abu Kamal city in the eastern province of Deir al-Zour.
Syrian regime forces enjoy a far more of an air force advantage in comparison to FSA, a gap that led the rebel army to increasingly target the regimes air force and its military airports.
On Thursday, FSA claimed that it had downed a Syrian military fighter jet also in Idlib.
In the northern city of Aleppo, FSA also claimed on Thursday that it had destroyed 11 helicopters and a number of tanks around Tiftiaz military airport, where there has been heavy fighting between the resistance and troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.
The Syrian army has been bombarding the less heavily armed rebels with helicopters and jets as they fight for control of the country, inflicting large casualties.
On Monday, Syrian opposition fighters made headlines when they downed a helicopter in Damascus.
