WTF , why we are still even considering to have deals with the French not to mention what they did with J-F17 RC 20 Radar deal and the corruption in the Purchase of Augusta 90 B subs. Better to have simmilar deal with China or Germany, The French are not of that worth which we are giving them .

Relax.International relations are not about being friends but having common interests.At the moment french common interests are in selling to india. Once this is settled doors will open again for more sales. No one in this world is a reliable partner. To top it all, we dont have the money to pay as well, so let relax and let this play pan out to see what the plot really is. if i know the french , they will first sell to Indians and then sell to Pakistan as well.it might be delayed but not out of the picture.Simil;arly if we find better suppliers then we will tell them to take a hike as well without any remorse. i hope you get the drift.

SC unhappy with mechanism adopted for LNG contract

* CJP questions how French company was awarded contract when it had not even submitted expression of interest

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday questioned how a French company had been awarded the contract for the import of liquefied natural gas when it had not submitted an expression of interest, and expressed dissatisfaction over the procedural mechanism adopted for the award of the contract.

Heading a three-member bench hearing a suo motu notice against the award of a short-term import contract to French company GDF Suez, the chief justice observed that had the process for the award of the contract been transparent, “the matter would not have come to the SC for adjudication”.

The suo motu notice was taken over a news report that revealed how senior Petroleum Ministry officials awarded a multibillion-dollar contract for the import of 3.5 million tonnes of LNG to the French firm while “ignoring” the lowest bid – which was jointly made by the Fauji Foundation and Vitol.

Resuming his arguments, SM Zafar – representing the Petroleum Ministry – claimed the award of the contract had been transparent. He said the concern of all parties to the case emerged “after the surfacing of confidential documents”.

“This is not good governance”, observed the chief justice.

However, Zafar produced various documents in a bid to show that
“the bidding process
was transparent and
above the board, in which the first expressions of interest were invited”.

He said a total 53 companies showed interest in Pakistan’s first LNG import project, and 36 were short-listed and given expression of interest documents after the completion of the evaluation process. He said 14 out of the 36 companies filed their statements of qualification, and five of them were short-listed for the request for proposal process.

Eventually, he said
the “best proposal
by 4Gas” was recommended for the terminal part of the project. He called
on the court to allow the project to be completed,
as “this is crucial for
the energy and economy
of Pakistan”.

About the decision not to consider the proposal by Vitol-Fauji, Zafar said the Fauji Foundation withdrew from the Mashal project in April 2008, and “in fact, the Vitol-Fauji proposal in 2009 was for a standalone/independent short-term project and out of the ongoing Mashal process”. Zafar was still arguing when the court adjourned the hearing until April 26.

They don't seem to be the best. Things are not clear in this deal, even Ex- Finance minister agreed that something was not right.

c) For $10,000 USD the home they live in can get all 100% new furniture
d) For $3,000-5,000 USD they can get life, Health Insurance for whole year
e) They can sell the 1978 car junk , and get a energy efficent car made in

f) For 10,000 USD the family can lease a cow , and get 100% clean milk
supply for their home

well unfortunately that is not possible specially in a corrupt an uneducated society like ours, infact you might be able to see 1 rupee if you are lucky, as there are other major, major big pockets to be filled which are regularly filled every day from the very top. I really doubt as just a pakistani with no money or influence/ power ull get any of that 1 million. if there was no corruption at all then this would have been a great idea plus crime rate will increase more this is pakistan not iceland or norway.

some one talked about solar panel and wind terminal sorry mate in a society like ours where people throw their garbage from the 5th floor building apartment where people park their car in the middle of the road to go shopping while 10 cars line up and wait for that ediot to come back after 30 mins at main road in major cities because he has a police number plate on his car, u really think they will put solar panel, a country where illiteracy an corruption creates something like (ILLITUPTION) a bad air in the society.

As much as i love Pakistan its smell of the sea, the earth, its sunset, its people, its positive attitude, I equally hate its bad habits to the same level.

i rather spend that money in Inforcing Proper law in the country where no one is spared from army, police to politican, ministers and all the zamidars.
1) eliminating corruption. punishment should be min 10 years and 20 lack Rs for taking bribes at lower level.
2) upgrading the police dept equipments helicopters CCTV, survaliance system, better cars crime lab with latest equipment and training. finishing off all the santary positions it should start from police officers better pay and purks eg a simple cop(officer) should be given $25000 a month starting pay plus housing school allounces and retirement fund. Police officers must go through similer process like the ISSB in getting a position.
The police commando unit in PK should be made more perminent and increased in numbers every police station should have a commando unit stand by 24 hour. they should be given special training by the PK SSG to work along side the police officers that petrols the city just like special police units in Columbia and brazil, mexico.
Inforce proper gun control and laws procedures with heavy fines and jail time. So no guns to public except sports/ hunting purposes or pistols for personal safety to govt and semi govt dept. No automatic rifles to general public highly forbidden only issued to arm forces and police commandos.

3)Upgrading the fire dept with same idology latest equipments.
4)Better emergency services, latests ambulances, actual paramedics.
5) up grade hospitals services training/ equipments.
6) most importantly increase the education standard in cities, towns villages with english as a compulsory language, no more pila school attitude.
7) Invest in adult education in the society as our adult needs it equally to as much as our children.
8)Create new cities or expand our major cities like khi, lahore to decrease over population and cluttering.
9)Create proper infrastructure of the whole country all together.
10) investment in upgrade and proper water, sanitation, sewerage , drainage and underground electric wiring system building roads that will not be needing and digging for next 30.
11) invest in regulation in imports of goods and services by setting standards.
12) Increase labour wages and formulate proper labour laws.

I can write a book of thousnad pages these are few places where we need investment to start with but most importantly we need quality leadership..

All iam going to say is that we are the same pakistani people who go abroad and follow the rules and regulations as if there was no tomorrow. They stop at signals stops at zebra crossing, pay their bills on time never throw a wrapping paper in the bin. U will not not see a single pakistani throw rubbish on the street of singapore, dubai etc.
So if the laws were strict and there was a long stick at the end to guide the country's flock of goats, sheep and cows Pakistan will prosper and grow.
Thats is where i think we should invest.........................

Well after JF-17 avionics fiasco, and then the LPG tender being suspended, it seems France wants to make up to some extend as we will get the avionics from somewhere else and the LPG tender may also be lost, thus France would be the one who is loosing more, compared to Pakistan.

To me, just another face saving and business saving ploy as they are for now the losers. Yeah, if India gives them the MRCA deal, then things would be different.

Sir 10% wants his kickback! be it subs,JFs or LNG contract!!! its all about the 10%!

we should turn down the offer of upgradation of the subs!!!
