Our minister of defence has announced that France will order 3 more Reapers (MQ9).
2 MQ9s are actually operationnal in Niamey,by mars 2015,another MQ9 will join the French forces in Niger.
In total,the French air force will order 12 MQ9s,could order 4 more,so 16.

Opération Barkhane : Le Drian annonce l'achat de trois nouveaux drones Reaper
Nice UAV :taz:

are they used solely for reconnaissance or do you guys use the Hellfire missile with them as well??

. . .
damn that's what I thought.
maybe one day can add on some Hellfires or Brimestone.

Some talked about installing Brimestone missiles on our MQ9s,but it will probably never happen.

.
In time you'll be upgrading from the "B" to the "C" model.

Maybe the US will be more open about selling "B's" to everybody.

Super Heron is in the same tier has the Reaper right or better??

Congress hasn't allowed UCUAVs to be exported.

I don't think the Super Heron is armed, but neither are some variants of the MQ-9.

But MQ-9 does outperform the S.H. in Range, Altitude, Speed.

S.H. has the ability to return back to base if connection is lost.

Both systems were made for their respective nations.

Its american isn't it? Thought France had a UCAV of this class in operation?:what: I know France hardly ever buys such critical weapons from the U.S.

Apart from that, nice choice, Reaper is proven and deadly. How much does it cost?
