France obstructs progress in the joint anti-air missiles of Eurosam following Turkey’s “Operation Peace Spring,” Turkish Defense Industries Directorate chair İsmail Demir said on Jan. 6.

“France is in a general [negative] attitude. This attitude has impacted the project as well,” Demir told reporters at an annual review meeting with the press.

“We are at the stage of definition study now. France has a negative attitude for the next phase. It creates troubles to go one step further,” he said.

“If this attitude continues, we will proceed with the other partner [Italy],” he said. Asked if France notified a general principle for blocking defense projects with Turkey, Demir said difficulties were seen on project bases, but not a general statement on the issues.

The position of France “has no meaning for us,” Demir said, adding that this situation will not hamper Turkey’s plans.

On Eurosam program, France lays an obstacle on the issue of technology transfer, a source familiar with the talks told Hürriyet Daily News on condition of anonymity.

Ankara made an initial deal with the French-Italian consortium on July 14, 2017 to develop Turkey’s national defense systems and signed an agreement early 2018 for an 18-month-long study to determine the needs and priorities for the potential joint production of an anti-ballistic missile system. The proposed system will be a more developed version of the Eurosam’s current SAMP-T air defense systems.

Talks with the Italian-French consortium came at a moment when Turkey was under fierce pressure from the United States and other NATO countries because of its plans to procure Russia’s sophisticated S-400 anti-ballistic missile systems.

France’s parliament in October condemned Turkey’s “Operation Peace Spring” which was launched on Oct. 9 to eliminate the YPG from northern Syria east of the Euphrates River, in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the “safe return” of Syrian refugees, and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

That's why having multiple options are vital. We have no time to deal with egos of countries like France.

We are now having S-400s from Russia,
We are developing our own system, Hisar A-O-U family and Siper.
We are developing with Italy/France, as seen in the example France tries to use it as a political tool.

No problem at all. We can just scrap this project with French and Italians or continue with Italians, maybe accept some other candidates.

Every nation have this right to do decisions in their own interests. The people in the north of Asia Kucuk and their new colony in America are making failed attempts to keep Turks under their occupation which is an impossible thing. Every weapon in the hands of Pakistanis or Turks creates ultimate terror in the hearts of the designers of NWO.

I wish a goodluck to Turks in making their own SAM system. In modern world, a good SAM system gives us very much liberty!

It seems France would rather better ties with coniving Armenians and the PKK - or anyone who’s against Turkey for that matter.

Who said to Trump... that TR shouldn't take the S400, since there is "sellers" in Europe... therefore it's an unacceptable behavior...

No... the French have developed enough technology through Eurosam, that they now want to start the project on their own. That is the operating form !! ergo Rafale from Eurofighter.

Lol. Talking about NATO cooperation but constantly backstabbing Turkey in terms of pretty much everything. I'm glad we bought the S-400's because as can be seen our NATO "allies" aren't that keen on cooperating with Turkey.

Bad news for France(and their defense industry) they would loose bilions of dollars
Good news for Russia and Turkey(no one can bark now when additional S400 will be ordered)
I didn’t like that grandma fucker anyway Hahahahah

with recent iranian missle attacks we should not shut down directly incirlik but declare a no fly zone for all foreign planes over syria iran border and give let them shut down the radars now.. only passenger planes should be allowed if they register first.. we should send there some s400 to cover the airspace only for us :)

these ppl fart on us and now when things go bad we should do something and let them show how they need our soil.. but hey some ppl have no balls :(

Isn’t Hisar-U and Siper the same system?

My comment was related to France’s (common) political stance towards Turkey and the effects of this on military technology collaboration. Politically, they seem to always be on the other team - the Armenian issue and the PKK for example. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make in the context of what I was trying to say. The Turkish minister has come out and said that France doesn't seem to be interested in progressing the agreement due to their political attitude towards Turkey.
