This seems to have become a very frequent occurrence. Are there any moves in India to seriously mobilize the armed forces to control this spreading phenomenon?

KOLKATA: Four jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force and a deputy commandant were killed while another jawan was critically injured when Maoists triggered a landmine explosion targeting the car they were travelling in near Lalgarh in West Bengal on Wednesday.

While four jawans died on the spot, Deputy Commandant Bijay Pal Singh died of injuries in a Kolkata hospital.

The attack came three and a half months after the massacre of 24 Eastern Frontier Rifles jawans at Silda in the same Paschim Medinipur district on February 15.

Tech it become frequent because those soldiers are now in Maoists backyard..You cant expect a cake walk there ..casualities are natural in case of a war like this..For me these are operation green hunt taking its effect..look at the maoists now they are killing civilians too inorder to pressurise government to ceasefire..these kind of killings will suerly loose some support for the maoists..I hope government doest back down from the operation and also they should intensify the operation and recruit more villagers as SPO's..now the Maoists are on a backtrack...Yes we will have to suffer some looses mainly because CRPF is ill equiped and ill trained but should continue the hunting down of maoists..

Do you think the Indian army should be involved (regulars) if the CRPF is ill-equipped and ill-trained?

As far as i know involving Indian army is not going to happen unless something worse will happen like a major attack in the city. And for now they dont have any influnvence out side the jungles and backward areas ...As per Chidambarams comment..its the duty of the state to tackle naxals and Central government is only assisting them on it..it means govt only interested in tackling the situations with CRPF and police actions..I meant about CRPF being illequiped mean its ill equiped compared to the Army but for now they are enough to handle naxals..and also they are training tribals and youths and recruiting them as SPO's [special police officers ] to tackle naxal menace..it will help in handling naxals to a greater extent ..

But the Naxal influence is cross-state now. Also, it has grown significantly in the last couple of years. Do you think the center can continue to rely on state(s) to control this movement?

I think there are many sticky threads where these type of threads can be posted.

Don't it be appropriate to move this into one of these sticky threads.

Naxal influvence has always cross states..if states are not willing to work together then this will not be sucessfull..The open borders always helps naxals to shift from one place to another ..When paramilitary commandos COBRAS started action against naxals in Bengal they shift their base to Orissa..Co ordination is essential and thats what centre is trying to do..Joint operations of states always yeild results..Hope it will continue
