KARACHI: Former senator and federal law minister, Iqbal Haider passed away on Sunday, DawnNews reported.

The deceased was suffering from lung disease and breathed his last at a hospital in Karachi and his funeral prayers would be offered on Nov 12 at the Masjid-i-Yasrab Defence-IV. He was 67 years old.

Haider had also served as the Attorney General of Pakistan and was affiliated with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

He was also the co-chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and had resigned from the basic membership of the PPP in March 2005, citing his unanimous election as Secretary-General of the HRCP.

He had received his Law degree from Punjab University.

He was among few old ppp fellows who were very critical to present PPP and always raised those pinching questions at which Jiala-e-Zardari choozed to stay silent. May his soul rest in peace. Aamin.
