What's new

Forget China, our competition is Bangladesh now. Only PM doesn’t acknowledge this

Bangladesh is an insignificant country. It's map comes free when you buy a map of India.
Bangladesh is no competition, it's a demotion. We have a rough idea what will happen to BD when Sheikh Hasina falls.
Two of our neighbours have already become economic baskets of the world owing to Chinese fraandship. It's good BD is trying to stabilize it's economy. One less tension for us.

So Aakar Ahmed Patel should pay his $1.2M fine, ask Amnesty to pay their $6.25M fine and take a chill pill.

Bangladesh is an “insignificant” country that splits your miserable Hinduvta hell hole in two.

And it bugs you day and night.

The policy error of the current government has been that it is focussing solely on hitech capital intensive manufacturing, but not low tech labour intensive industries. All effort is to bring things like Semiconductor/Hydrogen/Solar Cell manufacturing into the country. Well how many people is a semiconductor factory going to employ? It might have a very high output in terms of GDP but will employ only a small number of people. Same for a hydrogen factory.

One can see the real source of China's power if one walks into something like a Dollar Store. Pretty much everything except food items is made in China - utensils, stationary items, plastic decorations, bathroom stuff(plungers, toothbrush holders), lights, tool boxes and tens of thousands of items like this. All of them low tech, but they probably employ tens of millions of people.

Government needs to change focus from all the fancy news grabbing headline stuff like Semiconductor to focus more on low tech industries like textile and low tech plastic goods.

Now something like this is truly gamechanger - https://theprint.in/india/pm-modi-h...cepted-globally-say-industry-leaders/1028052/

China has the volume. Just take a look at AliExpress, its astonishing and beats ebay and Amazon into dust. Then you have capital goods in Alibaba where you can order any machinery or building meterial you can think of.

The West is getting more and more specialized and cornered into a smaller segment of luxury and IT. People can live without luxury good but cannot survive without everyday consumer goods. If neccesary one can live without iPhone and buy a cheaper smart phone made in China.

But the masees in oir countries are sleep walling and pointing fingers at China «not a democracy» bla bla bla. You can only afford to be arrogant until a certain point, because on day the train will have passed and one stand left alone on the station wandering what the hell just happened.

Bengal broke the back of Mughal India.
Wont be surprised if it breaks the back of India too.

How many hindu ministers do you have? How many mps in your ruling party or in your opposition parties? What is the hindu population as a percentage of your population vs their representation in politics, media, civil administration, military?
I categorically can state that the ground reality is much worse than what is reported

Yeah for sure bro 👍

Ok then....

BD hindu percentage as a proportion of population... around 8.5%.

1. No of hindu ministers in BD cabinet - 2 out of 27 or 7.5%.
2. No of hindu MPs in parliament compared vs percentage population = 18 MPs out of 350 so around 5% of the MPs.
3.No of hindu judges in the high court appellete division (BD supreme court) - 1 out of 7 or 14% of judges.
4. There are no numbers that i give regarding composition of hindus in civil service, police service etc but one suspects atleast 5% although anecdotal evidence suggests much higher proportion as BD had minority quota system until recently.

What are the corresponding numbers in india as percentages?

Great post. BD can take some lesson here from indian policies.

In the next decade we need to up our agricultural yield and industrial output. Priority should be import substitution first. Then we need also to diversify our exports and consolidate and master the full RMG product portfolio.

Indian Muslims are below Hindu dalits in the packing order.

How many muslim ministers do you have? How many mps in your ruling party or in your opposition parties? What is the muslim population as a percentage of your population vs their representation in politics, media, civil administration, military?

I categorically can state that the ground reality is much worse than what is reported.
<Wrote this with Pakistan numbers as I assumed you are Pakistani. But I think my point stands.>

There is a lack of participation in politics but not in civil administration or the military not sure how it's relevant to the topic.
Can I say people from Gilgit Baltistan and the valley, are mistreated? Because they don't have representation in your National Assembly? Can I say that women in Pakistan are mistreated by asking why they are underrepresented in your National Assembly?

Cherrypicking data to build your narrative is easy, I am not saying things are awesome in India but trust me I have a lot of very close Muslim friends most of them don't feel mistreated. A lot of hate is spewed on Media (which I hate) just to get votes but that's not the complete ground reality.

We had many examples of Muslims as our leaders and representative, many fought bravely against Pakistan, and our beloved ex-president APJ Kalam helped us build missiles, I can list many other examples.

There are many issues due to which Muslim representation is low. A lot of it is because of Partition, as the cream and rich left which skews data. Also, a lot is needed to be done to encourage the importance of the education of children in the Muslim population, especially girls.

A lot of policy improvements are required, but a lot of work is already done, Indian Muslim literacy rate is the lowest in India at 68.5 but it's the fastest rising in all religions too. Also if we contrast it to Pakistan's literacy rate of 58% it's pretty good. In a few decades, you will see an improvement in the representation of the Indian Muslim population :).

1. With the fall of Sri Lanka, everyone realized that Bangladesh, which has a peaceful environment and homogeneous nation, and has chosen the path of industrialization, is bound to become the richest country in South Asia.

2. Every country on the road to industrialization began with the textile industry, such as Britain, the United States, Singapore, South Korea, and China. Bangladesh is certainly no exception.

3. No one says that Bangladesh has reached the level of Japan or Germany, but Bangladesh is developing rapidly, which is a very obvious thing.

4. Bangladesh should first become a middle-income country, then invest in education and infrastructure, and then enter machinery manufacturing and other industries. These industries are the stairs from middle-income countries to high-income countries. It's too harsh for you to ask Bangladesh to enter these industries now.

5. The current poverty in Bangladesh is not caused by the current Bangladeshis, it is the tears left by history. Whether this country is successful or not depends on whether it is full of hope. Obviously, international investors are full of confidence in Bangladesh, so Bangladesh is not a loser.

6, I suggest that Bangladeshis learn more from Vietnamese and often compare with Vietnam. Forget the cesspit in India.
Very well articulated

@Sainthood 101

Sindh as a sister state should have doing been this without the issues

Indeed. Unfortunately it has been run by the Bhutto clan which doesnt help. Karachi should have been a trading hub for the subcontinent along with Mumbai

Regards
How do these political families in pakistan impact business, I understand they steal money. But do they also create obstacles for business growth?
Very strange, if that is the case they all should be hanged like the papa Bhutto.

This family is a curse for Pakistan, saying as a Bangladeshi. When the british left they leave behind these sophisticated butlers who are greedy and power hungry. Pakistanies got impressed with these flashy western wannabes and the result is infront of you. Its time the awam of pakistan break out of the shakels of these jamidars and Jardaries. Or worse time will come.

All these privilege class politicians will never let others to prosper, because they wont be able to rule then. You guys are at a very critical time, if you cant win over these leaches then your barbadi is set.

Its actually India who is too large to be sustained thus needed to be broken down to pieces like the rest of south asian countries. It looks odd.

@bluesky

Neel Akash Dada,

yet BD people talk as if BD is another giant Japan or Germany.

Classic strawman fallacy! Which BD poster here has said that BD is another Japan or Germany?

Regards

This is the standard Indian line of argument.

Whether it is Bangladesh or China that compares favorably to India, the Indiots come out with Japan, Germany and the US like they are their uncles. lol

Don't generalize, Many Indians are very happy about Bangladesh's growth it proves liberal and growth-focused countries do well. Plus we want to be part of a progressive neighbourhood.
