Actor Shah Rukh Khan will inaugurate the 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa 2011, to be held from November 23 to December 3.
The inaugural ceremony will be held for the first time at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
The Ministry of Tourism's Incredible India would be a strategic partner of the IFFI and it is expected to contribute Rs. 2.7 crore as a principal co-sponsor of the event. There would be a special section of short films on tourism for the first time in IFFI as Incredible India will have a brand-visibility at the venue.
Doordarshan and All India Radio will be official media partners, according to Festival Director Shankar Mohan.
The closing ceremony would have Tamil film actor Suriya adding spice to the proceedings. He would be joined by international celebrities such as French filmmaker Luc Besson and international action super actor Michelle Yeoh, Mr. Mohan said here on Friday.
The 42nd IFFI, Goa 2011, which is billed as the festival of change,' seeks to bring in novelty into the concept of the festival and is a work of transition, he said.
Art director Thota Tharani has designed the concept of this year's festival.
The event will begin with the screening of Portuguese filmThe Consul of Bordeaux,directed by Francisco Manso and Joao Correa.
The festival, which will screen more than 100 movies from 65 countries, will have special packages such asMaster Classesby film personalities such as Milcho Manchevski, Hugh Welchman, Laurence Kardish; a first of its kind package of 3D and animation movies; Retrospective of Luc Besson and Phil Noyce; a special package on Soccer in Cinema; country focus on the U.S.; screening of Russian classics and so on.
Besides cinematic geniuses on show, the festival is expected to have luminaries such as Bertrand Tavernier, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Dan Wolman and others along with glamour celebrities such as Raima Sen, Dino Morea, and Prem Chopra.
