It's actually an economic reason. Stick frames go up a lot quicker and are less expensive to build than any concrete/cinder-block/brick structure which significantly increases not only the cost of building, but the cost of purchase. That's the primary reason.

I have a friend in Tampa Bay I was quite worried about and thank God he and his family are ok. I also had a trip planned on October 6th through the 10th to go to the Keys for some diving and fishing but not only did this hurricaine cancel the trip, but there was a severe case of red tide that shut down many areas. They opened up Lake Okeechobee for some strange reason and that is one of the nastiest lakes in this country and so with that and the winds and tides, red tide was at an unprecedented level. Add Michael to it and this was a very difficult 2 weeks for Florida in general.

Maybe you should model yourself after Switzerland. Stable government and a high standard of living. Never any natural disasters except for an occasional skier killed by an avalanche. Seems they are low on the “wrath list”..so they must be doing something correctly...BTW prostitution is very legal and very accepted there. Apparently this is low on the list of wrath transgression priorities compared to the US and Pakistan....maybe we should both invest in different immorality.

That's good to hear. By the time it reached Seminole it had calmed down considerably to a cat 1. We lost power for three days but that was it. Unfortunately, it did kill our guava tree

I spoke to some friends who stayed in Tallahassee, and from what I have heard Michael hit Tallahassee about as hard as Irma hit Central Florida. No severe damage, although several trees did fall on campus. But it looks like the Panama City Area got the full force of the storm.
