I think it is due to starvation, poor food, short leaves, being stationed in a stressful war zone plus mistreatment from senior officers. But india needs to keep a huge army despite limited budget else who will sit in kashmir. If kashmir issue gets resovlved the one who would be most satisfied will be indian soldiers. No one wants to be deployed to such a challenging environment.
