He is very lucky to survive after being shot by a bvr missile. Paf pilot skills saved his life as his plane was deliberately shot at rather rear side of the plane. Had the missile hit the cockpit area, he would had been blown off in the air. Our aim was to get the pilot alive to parade him in front of entire world and we achieved that goal.

In PAF it's near impossible to have permission to shoot Indian pilots to death.

During Zardari time Indian mirrage 2000 were locked by PAF but Zardari withheld the permission.
PAF shared the lock details with US, so that Zardari may be nominated for peace prize. Now we try our luck again with Imran Khan.

After ejection, a check-up is mandatory. It is not a gentle procedure, and is rough on the physique; these are not World War II type bailing out, but is done by firing the seat out of the airframe using an explosive charges.

One of the amusing jobs that came the way of a team I worked with was to do audio-visual training videos for maintenance crew to learn how to service these ejection seats; there had been ugly accidents earlier. It surprised us when the demand for this and similar videos grew and grew and grew, and we finally had five staff dedicated to these. The aerospace engineers, their colleagues, were hugely amused, and speculated on the 'content', besides the technical videos, that this team might be up to with their unlimited bandwidth Internet access and excellent editing facilities.

It must be a form of torture for a hindu who went to kill Pakistanis and they forgive him, take him to hospital, clean him up, feed him, give him tea, new clothes instead of lynching him in revenge, must have confused him no end
