The first Airbus C295, purchased by the Government of Canada for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) Fixed Wing Search and Rescue Aircraft Replacement (FWSAR) program, has completed its maiden flight.

The aircraft, designated CC-295, took off from Seville, Spain, on July 4 at 20:20 local time and landed back on site one hour and 27 minutes later.

In October 2017, IAI’s ELTA Systems was contracted by Airbus to supply 16 ELM-2022A maritime patrol radars for the C295 SAR aircraft ordered by Canada.
