The first four of eight Boeing P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) have been placed on contract, according to a 27 August Pentagon announcement.
Boeing has received a USD1.49 billion contract modification for four full-rate production (FRP) Lot II P-8A aircraft for the RAAF and nine FRP Lot II P-8A aircraft for the US Navy (USN), the Pentagon announced. The modification also provides for the procurement of long-lead parts for 16 FRP Lot III aircraft for the USN and four for the RAAF. The USN's portion of the contact is approximately USD1.057 billion, or 71%, while the RAAF's is USD432 million, or 29%, according to the Pentagon.
