If the area is under Taliban control, you would need something as large as the PA's Swat offensive or at the least the massive Peocher air drop of SSG and FC Special Forces.

That means we are looking at several hundred to thousand troops being put in in.

One possibility is to coordinate a joint NATO-ANA-PA Assault of the region, with the PA/FC manning the Afghan-Pak border to block potential escape routes.

An operation of that magnitude means casulaties .. they would rather throw money at a problem than lose soldiers. Thats just how they do things. But the only problem is that the pot keeps simmering and noone is going to turn off the stove.

Why dont we put our cruise missles to work?? that will also prove their combat effectiveness. As of now they are just sitting for decoration and occasional test firing. Heck we can even bill uncle SAM for some tom hawks.
