Fawad Chaudhry has asked SUPARCO to help in providing internet to Kashmiris
November 15, 2019

More than 100 days have passed since the Indian Government revoked Article 370 and imposed curfew in Indian occupied Kashmir and there is no information as to when the curfew will be lifted.

In a recent media talk, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that he has reached out to Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) to provide internet to the people of Kashmir via satellite.

“Internet is considered a fundamental right nowadays. I have asked SUPARCO to check the feasibility of providing internet to caged citizens of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir via satellite,” said Fawad, adding that his ministry is ready to help out SUPARCO wherever they need help.

Fawad highlighted the plight of the Kashmiris and said that they have every right to have access to the internet.

Can they do it ?
Yes, very easily. And this is best time and Pakistan has all right to do , because it is disputed territory. India is under immense pressure internationally. Bajwa can order, PA Signals have all equipment and trained pro.

Providing internet through satellite would not be possible without having a ground setup there. One way is to use powerful antennas at loc or use devices on baloons. Still not feasible options. Better we provide them broadcast service like TV and radio.

.
A SpaceX Style Starlink Satellite Internet is possible, but it can be highly costly. Finding partners could make a non-US Starlink style satellite constellation based Internet provider economically viable for smaller nations.

Lolz can u explain how it can be done "very easily"??? Remember providing internet is a full/half duplex communication mode.

High power repeaters, frequency can be bought or from Chinese satellite. Pak has all the tools. Follow the pattern of Hughes communication , its simple. Create a blockchain of signals. All you need to give basic tutorial to users in Kashmir .

This is nodoubt costly, because you will see counter measure from Indian side too.

To be expected and planned for accordingly, i.e. Internet will be spotty at best, but even intermittent service can help get Info in an out.

when will they actually do? I have been hearing this from quite some time now .. Do it already, lets see what Indians are doing there, and what kind of poor condition Kashmiri's are living in .

That will be one way communication, how will they upload? Normal smartphones dont have powerful transmitters. As i said u would require ground based system there, which makes it difficult. Also transmitters that can transmit to a satellite are high power and can be detected easily.
