Update on AML/CFT improvements in Albania, Cambodia, Kuwait, Namibia, Nicaragua, Pakistan and Zimbabwe
The FATF congratulates Albania, Cambodia, Kuwait, Namibia, Nicaragua, Pakistan and Zimbabwe, for the significant progress made in addressing the strategic AML/CFT deficiencies earlier identified by the FATF and included in their action plans. These countries will no longer be subject to the FATF’s monitoring process under its on-going global AML/CFT compliance process. These countries will work with their respective FSRBs as they continue to further strengthen their AML/CFT regimes.

Raising the subject again since the Indian's are going nuts about the FATF/APG monitoring of Pakistan issue - the FATF issued a positive report about Pakistan's progress in implementing FATF requirements this year, and the APG follows the same FATF requirements when measuring the compliance of various states.

Some additional details after the June FATF plenary:

"The DG-FMU, while giving the background information on Financial Action Task Force (FATF), informed the participants that FATF in its February 2015 plenary delisted Pakistan from its monitoring process but advised Pakistan to take further steps on the key issues and report back in June 2015 plenary: The issues included enhancement of interagency co-ordination to identify & freeze terrorist property (movable & immovable) as required under UNSCRs-1267 and 1373 and issue guidance of financial institutions on UNSCR 1267 obligations and take further action to ensure more freezing and enforcement of prohibitions against UNSC-designated terrorist organisations (in particular in relation to JUD, which appears to continue to openly operate in Pakistan).

FATF, in addition to above, has also sought progress on two items taken from Pakistan''s National Action Plan including increased enforcement against proscribed organisations and individuals, including those attempting to operate under new names as well as illegal money remitters and to strengthen its cross-border system. DG, FMU informed that the government had constituted a High-Level Committee to oversee implementation of sanctions against al Qaeda/Taliban and associated individuals under the UN Security Council Resolutions 1267 (1999) & 1989 (2011) (al Qaida Sanctions regime) and security council resolution 1988 (2011) (Taliban Sanctions regime). National Co-ordinator (NC), NACTA shared that two meetings of the Committee were held where significant decisions were taken. DG (UN) Foreign Office shared that the UN 1267 Monitoring Team had already shown its satisfaction on the level of implementation of relevant UNSCRs in Pakistan. DG (UN), Foreign Office also said that the Government was fully committed to implementing UNSCRs and this was evident from the number of measures taken so far. DG (FMU) added that, in response to FATF''s concerns, SBP and SECP had since issued the requisite guidelines for Financial Institutions on obligations to implement UNSCRs under their respective domains."

Seems like Indians na kuch daru zayda he charlia ha and clinching on straws to support the supa power status specially since China blocked their move recently on Lakhvi.

And on the other thread we have Indians celebrating like idiots that supa puwa India blocked Chinese move regarding Pakistan. Poor guys are so desperate for face saving after the snub at UN.

How some of you Pakistanis love to rant!

The report in the opening post of this thread relates to what happened in FEB 2015!!

But at the meeting held in Brisbane, Australia just last week between 21 June and 26 Jun 2015, it was pointed out that Pakistan's enforcement of UN financial sanctions against terrorism will be closely monitored by Financial Action Task Force (FATF) through its associate body, the Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG), after India successfully blocked China's attempt at the recent FATF meet in Brisbane to save non-FATF member Pakistan from such scrutiny.

So don't jump and shout and thump your chests. What transpired at last week's meeting is an embarrassing wake-up call to Pakistan to shape up and stop sheltering its 'strategic assets'.

Yeah we already read that. But it doesn't matter since our efforts have already been lauded by FATF. Nothing to be concerned about for us. FATF can monitor all it want. The result would again be the same. We would again be appreciated for our efforts in quelling terror.
