Though i don't see anything happening on this front but criminal action is much needed and deserving here.

This is a fraud and corruption with the people who vote for them.

The outgoing members of the national and provincial assemblies failed in furnishing their educational degrees/certificates sought by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) despite repeated reminders will have to face criminal proceeding.

The HEC is writing to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to initiate the action in accordance with its own decisions and in the light of the verdict of the apex court. The HEC communication would be reaching the ECP the day the members of the assemblies are out of their respective houses. The number of such members is more than 190 in all. Once the criminal proceedings are taken off, the members will find it difficult to contest the polls unless they get themselves exonerated through verification of their educational documents.

HEC Chairman Dr Javaid Leghari didn’t budge to any pressure during recent months. A federal minister who has dubious educational credentials was among those who tried to get Dr Leghari removed from the office. The ECP earlier approached the HEC to expedite the verification process of the degrees of more than 190 members of the assemblies so that action could be taken against those who have refused to produce their matriculation certificates and some other documents despite the orders of the Supreme Court and the ECP.

The HEC and ECP are steadfast in their resolve so that any fake degree holders should not find way for returning to the houses where the destiny of the nation is determined. The two commissions will not let such people to contest again who are cheating the law. It includes some highly influential politicians from both sides of the political divide, who have neither honoured the order of the Supreme Court nor showed respect to the repeated reminders of the ECP to get their degrees verified.

The candidates contesting upcoming polls wouldn’t required to submit their educational degrees/certificates but their claim about their qualification on fake documents in 2008 general elections could haunt them under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution as their credibility would become questionable.

The HEC chairman, who has been asked to expedite the process and report back to the ECP for appropriate action, was reminded that in their meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on February 28 the ECP and HEC had decided that action would be taken against fake degree holders.
