Technically speaking, there was no single state in Rus in the middle of 13's ct. There were dozens of small and more or less big independent principalities. But even if Rus was united like in 10-11 ct. I doubt it could defeat the Mongols. Mongol Horde was megahyperpower of that days. USA is not even close today to those days Mongols, USSR or Nazi Germany also were nowhere near the Mongols.
