And then what? IMHO it's much more effective to park a naval version of Babur on board submarines: much harder to find and take out. Meanwhile, should PN get a destroyer, it should if anything be geared toward AAD. But in the near term, PN it best of focussing on getting new vessels in classes it has now (up to frigates) and then gradually expanding numbers. Subs, frigates, maritime patrol aircraft, naval strike wing.

India has got 8 Destroyers in their fleet yet we have not even considered buy 1

We should get atleast 2-4 (new or used) destroyers as soon as possible

What for? What would they do that frigates can't? Destroyers by themselves aren't all that usefull. They mainly serve as escorts for high value ships, like carriers or amphibious assault ships. Or as flagship in a taskforce comprising a bunch of frigates. Considering the number and nature of PN primary combattant ships, there isn't currently much use for destroyers.

5 of those 8 destroyers are relatively old Rajput class (USSR Kashin class). These have no edge over a modern 3500-4500 ton helicopter carrying frigate armed with 1-2 RAM launcher, 32-64 ESSM (1-2 Mk41 VLU) and 4+4 Harpoon.
