alot of people think the f-22 is a bad plane ... that it cant take on the su-30 or su-35 in combat
The Raptor is the top dog right now, anyone who says otherwise is a moron.
but when i asked pilots who had f 18 hornets going up against f 22 they saide that when they went in to a circular dog fight with the f 22 they would losse air speed but the f 22 CTV (controled thrust vectoring) would let the plane turn tighter turns and have a better angle of lock on's. all in all the f-22 has far more agility as well soo all in all f16 vs f22 paf still be at nthe top
Canadian pilots trained against the Raptor? Anyways the F-18 isn't very agile compared to other American fighters. The German Mig-29 pilots had no problem against F-18's or even agaile F-16's. This was before the mig-29's has tvc. Today, however, mig 29's or mig-35's are offered with tvc.
Here's more on the German mig-29's:
But when all that is said and done, the MiG-29 is a superb fighter for close-in combat, even compared with aircraft like the F-15, F-16 and F/A-18. This is due to the aircrafts superb aerodynamics and helmet mounted sight. Inside ten nautical miles Im hard to defeat, and with the IRST, helmet sight and Archer
I cant be beaten. Period. Even against the latest Block 50 F-16s the MiG-29 is virtually invulnerable in the close-in scenario.
On one occasion I remember the F-16s did score some kills eventually, but only after taking 18 Archers. We didnt operate kill removal (forcing killed aircraft to leave the fight) since theyd have got no training value, we killed them too quickly. (Just as we might seldom have got close-in if they used their AMRAAMs BVR!) They couldnt believe it at the debrief, they got up and left the room!
"They might not like it, but with a
28deg/sec instantaneous turn rate (compared to the Block 50 F-16's 26deg) we can out-turn them. Our stable, manually controlled airplane can out-turn their FBW aircraft. But the real edge we have is the Archer which can reliably lock on to targets 45deg off-boresight.
Luftwaffe MiG-29 experience - positives and negatives
from Jane's At the Controls: MiG-29, by Jon Lake
Through out history, fighter aircrafts from USA have shown their superiority and have an excellent combat record compared to Russian ones, so with such pass record F-22 can safely be assumed as the best currently what the world has.
They weren't so fortunate when they faced Russian pilots over North Korea, yes, Russian pilots, not Chinese, and not Korean, but Russian. Remember, the US pilots over Korea were aces from WWII, but dispite this many of them got shot down. American pilots have never faced a good airforce. Russian pilots flying the latest aircraft would also show "superiority" if they faced a poor airforce operating old American junk.
Russian Aces of the Korean War - MiG-15 Pilots versus USAF F-86s
It seems to have some intelligent kind of thrust vectoring system, which i believe are not yet there in Russian ones.
Sorry, but the Raptor TVC is anything but intelligent, it's just two slabs of steel deflecting the trust vertically. The Sukhoi's or Mig's TVC is 3d, meaning it can move in all directions.
