Export revenue 18% above target?

. .

What do you think our current (this fiscal year) exports are likely to be? Any chance of it getting near $60 billion?

"In fiscal 2020-21, Bangladesh raked in $45.37 from the export of goods and services. The target for the current fiscal year is $51 billion, with the government expecting goods to account for $43.5 billion and services $7.5 of the export earnings.

In January, the revenue from the garment sector was $4.08 billion, making up 84.21 percent of total exports.

In the first seven months of the fiscal year, earnings from garment exports amounted to $23.96 billion, a 30.30 percent increase year on year."

"Buoyed up by the recent uptrend in export receipts, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi is confident of continued growth in the coming months.

"Even in the midst of a pandemic, the country's industrial production and export sector has managed to find its feet. This year, the export target has been set at $51 billion. It seems likely that this will be met," he had said during the closing ceremony of the Dhaka International Trade Fair on Monday.

"We are working towards setting a target of $80 billion in annual export earnings by 2024."

If exports go up to this level or near it, i am optimistic that the loans from foreign lending institutions and China can easily be serviced and repaid on time and without default.

Nope, Pakistan exports will be $40b.

Pakistani exports (especially RMG) are growing faster than that of Bangladesh, due to generous RMG export subsidies and other incentives currently. I reckon in another one/two years it will easily reach $50 Billion Insha-Allah.

I have great hopes for Pakistan's export performance. Exports are very diverisfied, more so than Bangladesh.

There is an active thread on this,

However - Imports are what is problematic there.

In any case this is a bit off topic...

Looks like exports will be $55b.
Thanks. But, people in Bangladesh want an economically strong Pakistan, also. It is better Pakistan spends less money on things that have no or little return and invest more on the industrial production so that when Chinese currency becomes more strong, it can strongly re-enter international market, same as we are doing.

The world is too big to accommodate both our two countries' exports. I still remember the days when we would go to markets to buy Karachi products, soo beautiful!! It was before 1971.

Govt. targeted 51 billion for current fiscal year with around 12% growth rate. If remaining 4 months shows similar 30% growth then it will touch 59 billion. Last fiscal year's export was total 45.39 billion Dollar.

Bangladesh actually has no option but to achieve such growth because import growth rate is also high. Import will cross 80 billion Dollar this year.
