Canada, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Germany and France ambassadors made statements just after US ambassador that they abide by Article 41 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. There is a step back in diplomatic way. So for now, both sides seem reluctant to escalate tensions.

The fact that there are some other diplomats who know international law, even if they make mistakes, (rather than butchers who chop people in these embassies), may be a factor that ensures that the dialogue is always open.
