Pakistani history has, for a long time, been hijacked by the so called "Ashraf" caste of people. These are the folks who claim Arab/Turk/Persian ancestry, and therefore make it their mission to make all of Pakistan embrace their identity and revere them as "truer" Muslims.

I want you to all ponder how effective their propaganda has been. Think about it. Muhammad Bin Qasim is called the first Pakistani. Ashraf lineages are exalted and praised as the ideal standard, whereas native lineages are mostly frowned upon in comparison. Languages like Pashto, Punjabi, etc are tossed out in favour of Urdu. I'm sure you're all also very well aware with these people saying that only they have the right to do certain things (e.g wear green shawls), or that they deserve special respect. And I'm sure you can also all think of people who have embraced these ideas (as some of you older members would remember, even I embraced some of these ideas).

The time has come to cut the crap and end this. Muhammad Bin Qasim did not bleed for Pakistan. The Indo-Pashtun Lodis are our people, not the Turkic Mughals who came to overthrow them. Raja Jayapala ruled over Gandhara and held sway over Kabul for much time too, why do we forget about him? Why don't our history books focus on pre-Islamic dynasties the Rai dynasty? Urdu is no better than Punjabi, nor is a Syed any better than a Jat.

It's not like these so-called Islamic rulers were that Islamic anyway. Many of them were just classist as well as racist scum. For example, the Ummayads literally discouraged non-Arabs converting to Islam. The only people from among these empires that should be praised are the sons of the soil who rose within them despite the challenges that they faced.

The time has come to change, we must focus upon our people. Pakistan being made for Muslims doesn't mean that we are suddenly Ummayads, we are still people from the Indus. Always have been, and always will be. This "Ashraf" caste's propaganda needs to be tossed in the bin, and they too must embrace their Indus roots.

Muhammad Bin Qasim didn't even introduce Islam. Converts under him were minimal, and the Ummayads were against non-Arabs converting.

. . . . .
Didn't they convert most Persians into Muslims?

The ball was rolling since the Rashidun conquered the region, and it continued to do so under the Ummayads. However, they grew disgusted with the rise in non-Arab Muslims, and tried to suppress them. This is what led to the Abbasid revolt, that was in fact spearheaded by Persians.

Now we have people who still enamored with Hindu caste system. There is no caste system in Islam ! These Ashraf and Ajlaf communities were artificial in response to caste system. Only people of Punjab talk about the caste no one else in other parts of Pakistan. It is a problem local to Punjab only. Any Muslim can marry anybody since in Islam every human is equal before God.

Ur points r valid absolutely in so far as Pakistan needs to present a solid identity to the world at large however, can't v cut the crap of ethnicity being superior or inferior?

Just read Quran & its principles r rock-solid till Qayamah! V can't place lineage, land anything before faith! That's what makes us MUSLIM! That's what makes our ideals the final destiny of mankind to her all civilizations towards ONE TRUE CREATOR! TAWHEED!

How beautiful a sight it will be if it is ingrained in the mind of every single Pakistani to showcase our local cultures from all parts of the country - the traditions, folklore of all languages, sights & sounds, food, jewelry, clothing everything indeed!

But then when anyone from anywhere in the world asks any one of us if Islam sums it up all n if v r prepared to leave everything behind for the sake of it then v say without pause or even a shadow of a doubt!

That YES v r ready to sacrifice everything! In a blink of an eye! V rightfully acknowledge the INDUS CIVILIZATION but through our forward-looking & exploring nature, announce to the world that v follow a better ideology- the ideology of Islam today than our forefathers....

AAMEEN.... KHAIR INSHA'ALLAH!

I agree to the description of Syed no better than Jat.
If recognition is just because you want to prove yourself superior then it is wrong. Everyone is equal.
But as much as remembering your roots is concerned that's all good.

please remember, there are lots of people like me who can easily trace our roots 300/400 years. So for me to be proud of my roots is nothing wrong.
The rest i agree with, no problem.

I get my tits up for this "Syed" thing though. Most of them are not anyway. It is same like the Hindus do the caste thing, Barhamins superior etc. No such thing in Islam.
When you realise that how many generations had been between Prophet SAW and now, the total amount of people claiming to be from the family of Prophet SAW is just not possible mathematically.
