A snow leopard was killed by the villagers in Abbottabad after it attacked and injured a man.

That's not a snow leopard. That is a common leopard. These are also critically endangered in Pakistan.
Snow leopards don't come as far down as Abottabad.

They are poor villagers. I don't think they have the means to sedate a leopard. I don't blame these villagers. Leopards are very dangerous animals. If you don't believe me, read Usama ibn Mundiqh's kitab al idbar (book of contemplation). Usama was a great hunter and soldier for the seljuks and the ayyubids and he recalls accounts of leopoards killing a lot of people. If we all lived like these villagers than maybe the leopard wouldn't be endangered and killing one for your own safety wouldn't be that big of a deal.
