Featured End of globalization: Beginning of ‘made in Pakistan’

Honestly the optimism in the OP is even too much by my standards. Decades of moral corruption and incompetence have caused a rot to the core and in our desperation we "want" or really "have" to see ourselves with an overly optimistic lens. Yes technically we can do a lot of things, we are not apes. But will the vested interests and the status quo people let anything change? Unlikely.

Isn't it still our job as a nation to pushback against the status quo??
I met individuals in Pakistan (who were retired generals) who didn't live in posh homes or have nice cars. Their kids had all moved out, some even immigrated to the US and Canada. But these men opted to stay, even though they were aging and Pakistan was getting worse by the day (and they agreed it was). Why? "Nothing like being the son of the soil."

So, if there's any good news, it's that even though the final decision makers aren't the best, there are those with privilege/power who actually do care. They actually do walk the talk. It's really a matter of how soon those people get authority. Sometimes they did, other times didn't, but as of late, they're not...

Many rich mummy daddy type people don't get it but there are tens of millions of people living in Pakistan who are proud to be the son of the soil of their localities despite being relatively poor. I know many people who continue to live in their villages even though they can easily afford to live in the city area with far more facilities because they "feel" that their connection to their ancestral villages is worth far more than getting some extra urban facilities.

Yep. I've seen elites from many parts of the world. The weird thing in Pakistan is that you have them on two ends. On one end, they're just idiots. That's about it really. The other end though, they're incredibly smart, yet humble and forward thinking. It's not a thing you see often in other parts, but there's more of it in Pakistan I think.

They are indeed the only real and true elite in terms of personal integrity. Integrity and humbleness go hand in hand.
