No more protests: Section 144 imposed in Karachi – The Express Tribune

KARACHI: Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure was imposed in Karachi on Monday which bans a gathering of more than four people at one place for rallies and protests, reported Express News.

A notification in this regard has been issued.

Section 144 also bans carrying weapons.

The imposition of the section means that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will not able to stage the protests scheduled in the city today against alleged rigging in elections. The protests were due to be held at Shahrah-e-Faisal and at Teen Talwar.

Another party also staged a sit-in earlier during the day at Sohrab Goth in Karachi against rigging, and blocked nearby roads in protest.

But let me tell you one thing, tweets and facebook requests are still going on to beat the curfew and still hold these protests...

Assaan tay jaanayyy!

The social media is not the real world. It is easier to type in the comfort of your home than it is to go out in the heat and face the rabid police.

Mere se jitna hosakta hai woh kar raha hoon, mauka milay toh aur bhi karoonga. I've led jaloos in Lahore once before as well! Woh bhi Allama Iqbal Airport par! Gave a Dharna when the word Dharna wasn't common :D Khaali keyboard wars nahi larta... But yes I'm in Dubai and getting chuti isn't as easy these days for me.

Btw... Pakistan main comfort of the home jesi koi cheez nahi, so they are happier coming out!

Post election violence has resulted in the imposition of Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to details, the law states in emergency situations, no more than five people can assemble in a location for campaigning and protests. This announcement came in the wake of post-election riots that broke out in Pakistan's financial hub.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.

I can appreciate your efforts online Sir jee, but you are only assuming that people are happier coming out. That may not be true.

PTi protest unexceptable, let ECP deal with things, protest will destabilise the situation

Will of the dhandli by the status quo... Evidenced by videos upon videos... And let's not forget the evidence shown by FAFEN - a third party.

As I posted elsewhere, the process to challenge the validity of the elections must be taken up seat by seat with the ECP, not outside it.

But I am curious as to why all the ballot papers shown in those videos and photos do not have any traceable evidence like serial numbers etc as I posed in another thread.

The process is not acceptable. In Egypt Hosni's rule was also process. Nahi pasand aya, toh logon ne ura ke phaink diya. Evidence was presented to SHC and SHC rejected it. IF people will have faith in SHC they won't protest, if they don't, the will. Nothing is higher than the will of the people.

I agree that nothing is higher than the will of the people. Therefore, if what you are saying is true and I understand you correctly, there will be huge and widespread demonstrations against the results of these elections soon. Correct?

Soon? Why do you think Section 144 has been implemented?

They were suffering before too...

The answer is not, not to bring a revolution, it is to pick better leaders.

Kuch na karke suffer karne se behtar hai suffer while struggling for something.
