Elections 2018: PTI wiped out from central Punjab, reads report
Last Updated On 07 August,2018 05:39 pm
The report has been compiled by PTI's election cell.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – A report compiled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Election Cell revealed party had suffered massive defeat in the central Punjab at the hands of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).
Out of 42 seats of National Assembly (NA) in central Punjab, PTI lost whooping 32 to their arch rivals PML-N. Likewise, PTI lost as many as 22 seats of Punjab Assembly (PA) from Lahore, managing victory in only eight seats of the provincial capital.
The report states tickets were issued by completely disregarding merit and overlooking surveys.
Cause of the debacle
It further read that tickets to several candidates for contesting elections on NA and PA seats were issued without proper scrutiny.
“Several families hailing from Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Kasur and Sheikhupura were awarded two tickets. Most of the candidates either did not run effective political campaign or opted serious strategy ahead of the elections”, read the report.
Exposing nepotism, report accused top brass of PTI Central Punjab of issuing at least 13 tickets of NA and 21 tickets of PA solely on personal relations
