You belong to the class that has access to food, shelter, clothing and really decent quality plus internet and awareness and education. So does your family. You and I, we're a minority in this part of the world. The vast majority views rape differently in this part of the world. Now you say if something happened to you, you would tell your family immediately. And that is probably the case with most of your friends and relatives. But not quite with the bulk of the population which believes if a woman is raped, it's probably he fault as well and it's considered a shame for the family because now outsiders can blame the family for having a girl involved in adultery. That's the kind of logic there is.
i could not decide whether laugh or feel bad..
True...true...
But remember it's not necessary that people will think it's a shame to their family if a girl is raped, it will wreak havoc to the rapists family if an accusation is levied upon them, believe me the Pakistani society is brutal towards criminals etc... and so is the majority of any sane Muslim society. At times even false accusations can nearly destroy a family, hence punishments are reserved for such things.
how much time have you spent with the poor people of the society ? Have you been close with them ?
Do you remember that woman who was stoned to death in front of lahore high court simply for marrying the man she loved....?
These are the "sane muslim people" that form the bulk of the society in Pakistan.
That was an act of honor killing, it isn't a part of Islam, believe me and yes I've been around the poor society a lot of times but not close to them.... and believe me, no marriage is allowed in Islam until both spouses agree upon accepting it. But unfortunately you are too blinded by your hate against either Pakistan or Islam or both and stop generalizing, when did I ever say that these people are part of the sane Muslim society, these people are illiterate who act by their emotions rather than their mind. How many honor killings are done in well developed Muslim nations, take Turkey and Indonesia as an example and compare it to which ever S.A country you want to.
