Iraqi Special Forces cohorts prepare to receive combat training in Egypt

The Iraqi Ministry of Defence is preparing cohorts of Special Forces to receive combat training in the Egyptian Special Forces School (Sa'ka School in Inshas Alsharqiya) within the next two months according to the Ministry of Defence's media consultant (Nasir Noury Mohammed) in a statement to the Sputnik news agency on the 9th of February.

The news agency hinted that an agreement was reached with the Egyptian Ministry of Defence and all that remains is the preparation of the Special Forces for deployment and an agreement on payment. This should be completed within the next two months.

The Iraqi Defence Minister Khaled Alabaidi had visited Egypt on an official trip with a high level delegation in the month of January 2016. During the visit he discussed the possibilities of Egyptian military backing in the current operations against DAESH in the north and south of Iraq.

Not only that. We also provide them with ISR and advisers.

Many from the Iraqi army received training in egypt before and I think the number of personal to be trained in egypt is huge but I don't understand why egypt but not iran.

Commonality and superior training.

We share the same language and have a similar culture. The Golden Division is also Iraq's only non sect based force and we don't really care for religious differences in Egypt. Although Iran is generally internally tolerant and has no problem working with Sunnis some Iraqi sunnis may not be very comfortable training there.

Egypt also has a relatively modern training program for SF recruits or operators. Egyptian SF are also familiar with some very good kit and have gained relevant combat experience in the Sinai. Outside of the IRGC the Iranians have not been exposed to IS.

The Golden Division is also fairly good and we can learn a lot from their experience against IS and other groups.

Nope,he meant helping those Kurdish terrorists PYD/YPG,fighting ISIS.

What about Jordan ? They have a very sophisticated special forces training program.

Language barrier would be foremost hurdle in choosing any western or american training program. Although Pakistan did train a small Iraqi contingent but I would still consider Jordan to be a more apt choice.

Honestly Jordan in particular have better quality than egypt also pakistan to some extent.
